Totally agreed. Hell, when I was a kid, if I was about to do something stupid, my mom would just stand back and say "Go ahead, see what happens." It took me VERY little time to learn that when she said that, what would happen was going to hurt like a mofo. So I stopped doing it. Simple enough!

I mean, I got hit with rocks, fell out of trees, jumped out of the second story of the barn onto a half-dead mattress, tried to dig up a fireant mound, etc. I didn't need any fancy toys to hurt myself And if I came crying into the house, the response was "Bet you won't do that again." Or occasionally, "Rub some dirt on it." Which was my mom's way of saying "Suck it up, weenie."

I'm just glad to see my brother and cousin are doing the same with their kids. One of the triplets climbs onto the back of the couch (which they know they aren't supposed to do) and falls off, after it's made sure she's okay, she gets a time-out for doing so after the fact. Double pain!

Oh...I'd heard that one a lot! And my Dad always use to tell me to "Brush it off" when I fell, etc.

and I still get the "Suck it up" from my riding instructor. (most recently in regards to breaking in a brand new pair of tall boots, which as anyone who has done this knows, is extremely uncomfortable) *chuckle*
