I will say this:
Women who choose to become soldiers should be aware that if captured, rape is a distinct possibility. If working against opponents of a certain mindset, rape-if-captured moves from possibility to probability.
Men who choose to become soldiers also need to be aware of the possibility of rape from such people and in such situations.
Both sexes need to be aware of the possibility of torture.
It's because that sort of mindset exists that we need soldiers. I honour everyone who fights that mindset - and that includes teachers and diplomats as well as soldiers, but it's soldiers and police who take the brunt of the physical risk.
BUT: people who become soldiers should not get rape, torture or bullying from their own side!
The worst they get from their peers should be the training sergeant who is trying to teach them how to stay alive; or the results of proper discipline from a military court if they break the rules.
TL;DR: women in the military should be prepared for the possibility of rape if captured, but should be at least as safe - if not safer - as civilians, when among their own peers.
