Summary: Wealthy bankers lamenting the fact their bonuses are not as big as they used to be.

Several of the "victim" stories include:

- A guy who is worried about having to pull his three kids out pf private school because he may no longer be able to afford it.

- A person who is upset they have to put off adding an addition to their house and dislikes the fact they must wash all their dishes by hand.

- A guy who says that money is SO tight that he and his wife occasionally end up using - GASP! - coupons!

The disconnect from reality here is astounding.

Despite the fact that there are plenty of people who DO scrimp and save to send their children to a private school. :eyeroll:

I do also have a small rant on that part: I HATE people who send their children to private schools under the illusion that it will make them better people, or turn them into doctors and lawyers. If you're sending your child there for religious reasons, I can understand (as in, you've grown up under the Lutheran faith, under the Catholic faith etc.) but just sending them there because of the "old school tie" mentality doesn't seem right. You can go to a public school and be a good person: one of my sister's public school friends is doing a walk around Australia for cancer research.

If his story was more like "My daughter needs to take these special pills to live that cost 10,000 each". then I might almost feel sorry for him.

Seriously though, I'm surprised that my boss isn't on that list. He was bitching about how "expensive" things were lately, and how he was going to have to sell off some stocks to afford things. Keep in mind that this is a guy...who has multiple expensive vehicles, multiple homes, a fleet of watercraft...and lives in a house that's big enough, that *my* house (including the yard) would fit into his basement. He tries to use the excuse of things being expensive...so he can justify fucking with our benefits and keeping our salaries low.

I have *very* little sympathy for people like that, especially when they make about 100 to 150 times my annual salary, and then whine about being "poor." Sorry, but fuck that. The rest of us can afford to live on the meager scraps you give us. Learn how to do so, or suck it up.

I can see where they're coming from, since they do have to downgrade their lifestyles from what they're expecting. You get used to something, then it changes, that is always gonna be upsetting. There's nothing wrong with complaining about it, honestly...

I mean, this isn't like an end of the world social issue, but downgrading your lifestyle is never pleasant, even if you're still able to live comfortably

They're complaining about how their kids are having to go to a public school, as though a public school is automatically going to turn them into drug dealers or crack whores.

They're complaining about sometimes-just sometimes-having to use coupons at the supermarket. There are plenty of people I know, who live in middle-class households, who still use coupons. It's called smart shopping. They're not extreme couponers-they don't have a whole folder full of different coupons. It's just maybe the occasional coupon near the phone for pizza.

Next they'll be complaining about having to shop at the local Kmart, instead of the horrendously overpriced tacky tourist traps

Yes... Because they ARE foreign concepts to them. They are forced to change their lifestyle and that is simply not a pleasant thing. Whether you're downgrading from Super-Rich to merely Rich or from Rich to Upper-Middle Class, or what have you... It's a lifestyle change they don't have a choice in.

If they're calling this a great injustice, that's one thing, but for the most part, they don't seem to be. They're saying "My life is getting harder" and that's a perfectly fine thing to complain about.

The problem is not the complaint, its the total disconnect from the reality of those around them and the nerve of making said complaint to those people. Whining to me that you can't send your daughter to a prep school that costs more per year than I *make* in a year is not going to endear any sympathy.

You're complaining that you have to get your steak medium rare now when you use to perfer well done. In front of a homeless man.
