As for Zimmerman: sneaky, and not at all the sort of thing that would amuse a judge. Or encourage him to grant bail at all at the new hearing; hiding a passport too strongly suggests intent to use it.

I've said it upthread. Zimmerman needs to start listening to his defense team. Shit like this is not going to help him.

Yeah, that was pretty much a given, considering the fact that she actively lied at the bond hearing.

It's going to be a bit hard to make that stick, since they're going after her for saying "I don't know." To convict, they're going to have to prove that she did know. It's not like she claimed that they had no money - just that she didn't know how much (or how little) they had.

Given that the prosecutors have cut out bits of the transcript used in the papers against her, I'm going with "Let's try and force Zimmermann to do a deal by putting pressure on his family".

Apparently, they cut out a whole bit about how Mrs. Zimmermann said that her brother-in-law had all the details, and though he wasn't there, they could call him for the answers.

And I would like to point out that if they do manage to convict her, then a whole lot of people (like politicians) are going to be very nervous - since answering "I don't recall" or "I don't know" is a pretty standard MO to get out of trouble.

They have her and hubby recorded talking in code about the money during a jail visit. They have large transfers of cash into her account ($70k+) just days before the hearing where she claimed to have no knowledge. Those two alone are going to make a "not guilty" verdict difficult to defend.

Technically, you don't need to know about deposits into your account. Withdrawals are another matter. Again, an "I don't know" is going to be hard to *disprove*. Not saying it's not a lie, just that proving she's lying is going to be hard.

Update: George Zimmerman sues NBC for editing the 911 call that led to his arrest to make him sound racist.

But this next bit is something I didn't actually know when this whole ordeal broke the first time...

But the portion of the tape that was deleted had the 911 dispatcher asking Zimmerman if the person who had raised his suspicion was "black, white or Hispanic," to which Zimmerman responded, "He looks black."

This new lawsuit doesn't change the disgust I feel towards this man, but learning that last bit about the "racial assertion" was interesting. I don't think he's less racist, but it's interesting to see the network change things to make him seem more so.

Photos of Zimmerman taken by police on the night of the incident are not being handed over to the defense unaltered. The colour photos are being converted to greyscale before being handed over.

This is incorrect, numerous evidence photographs taken by the police are taken in greyscale, and color is later added, I know this simply because photographs of myself were taken for an assault case(and the photographer explained why I had to hold these cards), you hold up a palette of colors/greys(greys are for light exposure), they snap the picture. the palette is used to add color later(this shade of grey is red, anything that shade on the photo should be red), this is done because greyscale is standard, and no two cameras will process a photograph the same(color hues differ greatly between processors, also different lenses pick up light differently etc.)

And since the story is from fox, it's likely they either don't know this(law and order, and CSI always show color photos), or are deliberately trying to give false information, which wouldn't be the first time.
