When the hell did this start? And who started it? They need a severe ass-whooping!

I just don't get it. Why is it so damn cool to be stupid? Just how is any of the following funny/cool?

Torturing teachers.
Purposely interrupting class with nothing important.
Getting poor grades.
Getting by in life by doing the minimum necessary.
Unncessarily pushing people around.
Breaking as many rules as possible.

There's more, but I'll die before I can list everything. Why isn't it cool to study, get good grades, working hard and getting somewhere because of it? Why does being a trouble-maker make someone so damn awesome? Why are the people who follow the rules losers? I sit in class, listen to the teacher, and take down notes. But it's ther person sitting in the back, who doesn't do jack during class, texting away on their cell phone, interrupting class just for the sake of interrupting class, that is considered to be sooooooo cool.

Wtf is going on with society these days?

That kind of crap happened a lot in high school, but in university, everyone was just there to learn.

These people really need to grow up. A college education is expensive, and they are privileged to receive one. It's too bad they don't realize that.

Yes, I'm in college. It was a part rant about high school, part college.

I bet when you went to university, everyone paid for themselves. A lot of kids I go to school with have their parents pay for it. I know people that have failed 3 classes in one semester. And they LAUGHED when they told me. My mom would KILL me.

I really wish these people wouldn't bother going to college. I'd prefer my classes to be even smaller than they already are. It'd make learning a lot better.

Ragin' against the man has been cool since authority was invented. Look at shows like Happy Days. Which was the character everyone remembers and loves? Fonzi. The bad boy. It's especially celebrated in American culture because our country was pretty much founded on thumbing one's nose at authority.

When I was in school, I was there to learn. I hated it, when the class was disrupted because of assholes. Now days, I am just simply a smart ass. I only do that to make every one laugh. I am not going to disrespect anyone.

Where I live, so many spoiled rotten kids are getting a free ride through college, and they aren't even trying, probably get piss poor grades, and are only in college to "party". The only reason they are there in the first place is Mommy and Daddy's money.....it irritates me. People like me have to skrimp and save because we NEED to get a better career and make better money one day....and little shits like that can treat it like a joke.

And that's probably the word we're looking for...respect.

People are brought up without much respect anymore - or anyone or anything. After all, who is everyone's favourite role model these days?? Bart Simpson... (well - ok, maybe not everyone's... but you get the idea!)

How many role models do you see in society who actually worked hard, studied hard, and have respect for justifiable authorities? Who looks up to the Einstein's and Hawking's of the world??

I agree. It may be annoying as hell, but it's no reason to keep you from going to college. They'll be there no matter how long you wait so you shouldn't just be wasting time while waiting.

I guess it's just the principle of the matter........kind of sounding like an idiot customer when I say that, but it's the fact that some of us can't even afford college and are dying to go, while others can fuck around, change their majors over and over, go to several colleges, all for free.

Well, it isn't free. Someone's paying for it. Just probably not the student themself.

I had to earn scholarships to go to college and work a campus job. My dad would have tanned me alive if I didn't keep my grades (I had to maintain a certain GPA to keep my scholarships). Yes, my daddy helped me through college, but he didn't hand it to me on a silver platter (he helped pay for books and art supplies and paid off the interest to my loans while I was in school).

I'll be paying the remainder of my loans off for the next 8 or 9 years.

Blas, you have said it best. A lot of people do fuck around, because daddy paid their way. I am going to be checking into it, in a couple of weeks. See what kinds of student loans I would be able to receive.

Look at it this way, if they pissfart around, it'll show later in life. You apply yourself and get your grades, and actually understand what's going on, then you'll fare far better of than them! (well - unless daddy makes them the VP of the company anyway...)

So what if they have a daddy that pays for everything? The reality is that there are going to be people more privileged than you in pretty much everything you do. So what? You do the best you can with what you have and everyone else can just fuck right off.
Hell, a lot of the time you can be tons better than those people at whatever endeavor you're attempting, and it makes that success all that much sweeter.
