So basically it makes online bullying illegal.

    Problem is...what?

i read about this yesterday. At first, I thought it was an April Fool's joke, but noticed it was published afterwards. Cyber-Bullying is a serious issue. I don't think anyone can deny that. However, this bill reminds me of the old Telecommunications Decency Act, or whatever it was called, that would've banned stories like Little Red Riding Hood from being posted on the web because of its violent content. It's way too broad and too vague.

Did you even read the article or are you trolling?

It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person.
        It's not just bullying

I understand why they are trying to pass this bill but it it way too broad. If someone has a grudge against you or people just out to make trouble they could find anything you say offensive.

Even if you say the sky is bluer than blue today. Someone could find that offensive and report you becasue you said the sky is very blue and they don;t like blue.

            From the article:

"It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person."

If I want to give my own opinions online then I'm going to do it. So what if it offends someone else? Just because they're offended that I think for myself, I get cited with a misdemeanor? Fuck yourself with a rake, Arizona.

I'd be offended because the clouds are so heavy today that it's practically dusk right now (2 pm.)

As for bullying... harassment is already illegal. Stalking is already illegal. If those are a problem online, the trouble is in enforcing existing law... and the solution to that is to change the enforcement, not to create more laws.

                Why do you hate America?

The First Amendment pretty clearly states that no law shall be passed that abridges anyone's right to free expression, so if you support a law that legislates against annoying or offensive speech, you must be anti-American.

Harassment and bullying already have laws against them, why not just strengthen those rather than try and pass a patently unconstitutional law?

It appears that it's been shot down and never made it to Gov Brewer to sign. makes you wonder if it's going to be rewritten and sent up again, or find its way attached to another bill.

It's not ok to say it, but our founding fathers did not want government censorship, and the good thing about allowing it is well, we know to avoid people like Fred Phelps et. all.

I value my own freedom of speech too much to want it taken from others. That's not hatred.

Well, if you don't verbally abuse others, then no one has a need to take away your freedom of speech.

Let's see. A poorly worded bill that implies people could give people the power to have others punished if they don't like what they say. Didn't we have a bill like this that was met with great resistance?

Granted, this seems less dangerous with better intentions, but it's still extreme and unnecessary.

So you think people should be free to say what they like, so long as you agree with them?

I don't think you believe in freedom of speech at all.
