i read about this yesterday. At first, I thought it was an April Fool's joke, but noticed it was published afterwards. Cyber-Bullying is a serious issue. I don't think anyone can deny that. However, this bill reminds me of the old Telecommunications Decency Act, or whatever it was called, that would've banned stories like Little Red Riding Hood from being posted on the web because of its violent content. It's way too broad and too vague. Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.

It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person. Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.

I understand why they are trying to pass this bill but it it way too broad. If someone has a grudge against you or people just out to make trouble they could find anything you say offensive.
Even if you say the sky is bluer than blue today. Someone could find that offensive and report you becasue you said the sky is very blue and they don;t like blue.

From the article:
"It is unlawful for any person, with intent to terrify, intimidate, threaten, harass, annoy or offend, to use ANY ELECTRONIC OR DIGITAL DEVICE and use any obscene, lewd or profane language or suggest any lewd or lascivious act, or threaten to inflict physical harm to the person or property of any person."
If I want to give my own opinions online then I'm going to do it. So what if it offends someone else? Just because they're offended that I think for myself, I get cited with a misdemeanor? Fuck yourself with a rake, Arizona.

As for bullying... harassment is already illegal. Stalking is already illegal. If those are a problem online, the trouble is in enforcing existing law... and the solution to that is to change the enforcement, not to create more laws."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

The First Amendment pretty clearly states that no law shall be passed that abridges anyone's right to free expression, so if you support a law that legislates against annoying or offensive speech, you must be anti-American.
Harassment and bullying already have laws against them, why not just strengthen those rather than try and pass a patently unconstitutional law?

It appears that it's been shot down and never made it to Gov Brewer to sign. makes you wonder if it's going to be rewritten and sent up again, or find its way attached to another bill.

Let's see. A poorly worded bill that implies people could give people the power to have others punished if they don't like what they say. Didn't we have a bill like this that was met with great resistance?
Granted, this seems less dangerous with better intentions, but it's still extreme and unnecessary.
