  • Octomum's grimy life

    http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/entert...-1226338467426

So she spends $520 on haircuts, while her kids live in disgusting conditions...yeah, she's definitely incapable of caring for her own children.
Especially given that she relies on welfare handouts.

The comments seem to be arguing "but they're photoshopped because the door shows graffiti and then it doesn't show graffiti" -.-

And the people who are defending her are disgusting.

Well, children are not exactly the cleanest creatures on the planet. Having 14 of them in one house, things are going to get gross. Not having plumbing is inexcusable, though.

In olden times when people had 14 children (and no plumbing!) the older children usually helped with the younger, but that's not really possible when 8 of them are the same age (and isn't one of the older ones disabled somehow?). Didn't she have nannies before? I suppose she can't afford them anymore.

In most cases I think going into foster care and beaking up siblings is sad, but in this case they probably don't even remember each other's names, there's too many of them!

So, apparently she paid $520 for a single stop at the hair dresser, but she needs handouts to keep her and her brood fed?

"Nearly empty-rooms with unmade beds"? The horror!

The pictures depicting the "squalor" made me laugh. That place was in better shape than the farmhouse I grew up in. Slow news day in Adelaide, it seems.

I think by "squalor" they meant that the home seemed like a poor house. When the child only has a mattress and a few toys in their room, it looks like a room out of an orphanage. At least give the kids some drawers to put their clothes in and possibly a toy box or something. Also, using a chair to lock a door? That's special.

I'm wondering what "Octomom" did with all of the money she made off television appearances and donations. Did she piss it all away? I'm guessing the answer to that one is, "Yes."

If a CPS investigator said that there wasn't anything wrong, I'm inclined to go with that - CPS investigators tend to be a little over-zealous. If there was a genuine problem to be seen, they would most likely have had the kids out of there.

Honestly, it's not terribly worse than a couple of the situations I was in while a kid.

As for pissing money away, considering how much she spends on her hair (which doesn't look like anything was actually done with it >_> ), that's probably precisely the case.

My godmother had two kids and her house was 100 times more disguting than that place.

And if it had been a spotlessly clean mansion with nice furniture and several nannies to care for the children, people would be complaining that she was wasting taxpayer money.

Ignoring the nanny part, I suspect that they'd see well-looked after children.

It still doesn't excuse her blowing her money on her hair instead of her kids.

No, it doesn't, and there are some concerns here. Hopefully CPS had a talk with her about her spending habits.

Too bad she can't get a church to finance her kids. *coughDuggarscough*

One of the major and I mean major points of contention against me was car seat that we no longer used when I lost my daughter.

My health being bad was why the house was a mess and we could have kept our daughter and just had to clean up and such but the nail in my coffin the thing they did to really push "unfit" parent was that a car seat that was no longer used had mold under the covering.

It was a car seat up on a shelf in a closet that was going to be cleaned and taken to goodwill. And they were very good at ignoring me and my ex wife's attempts to make it clear that was not my daughter's current car seat and that her current car seat, high chair, etc were in excellent clean condition.
