Isn't there a direct link between the availability of porn and the rate of sex crimes? AKA the more porn available, the less sex crimes in a given country? Because of having less...unsatisfied impulses around? -.-

My Ex and I rented porn movies every now and then when we needed some "insperation" after a few of her major surgeries. as in "What things can we do now that <whatever> is not really possible anymore. and in the fact that every now and then it was a a hella of a turn on for us as, if you will, (sort of) voyuers (not that we got into watching others "do it" in person or live).
and realisticly speaking porn teamed with things like Laura Corn's series 100 GReat Nights of Sex, Great Quiickies, etc. (Google Laura Corn for the whole series of books she has authored over the last 15 years) a little more spark in your sex life is not a bad thing.
Yes I agree that moderation is a good thing. the renting of or buying movies was always discussed well before hand and the night (usually some special occasion like an annivercery or B-day) out was planned esp when our daughter was younger (babysitter for a good part of the night was a must ).I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.
I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

Overshare enabled.
I prefer pictorals over movies and any video's to be solo girls or girl on girl as I have found way too many camera men focusing on guy's arses for my liking.
The only cock I wan't to see when it comes to porn is my own and even then it's not as if I keep an eye on him anyway.
I haven't bought a magazine in years, I would say well over a decade, but I got one magazine with a DVD, but as the DVD had to follow BBFC guidlines, well it was rather lackluster and when I did buy magazines, I tended to keep to the tamer ones like Parade and girls in uniform as the 'stronger' ones seemed to be purely for gynacologists, but parades 'lesbian' shoots were more "two girls next to each other" and five photo's spread over 3 pages.
Most samples you can stumble upon have over a dozzen photos for free, so why printed porn still exists is beyond me.

The contrasting idea of increasing porn consumption causing increased rapes* has never been proven at all, just hand-waved by moralists.
*And, similarly, the idea of virtual violence causing real violence.

As with everything, moderation is the key.
Porn is like so many other addictive things. Computer Games, Certain Junk Foods, Alcohol...
All of these things in moderation can have no impact on you. In some cases can even be good for you. Computer games are helping tomorrow's UAV pilots rule the skies, Chocolate has chemicals that are good for you, even a glass of wine a day has benefits what with stress relief and antioxidants.
But all of these things when abused can cause problems. World of Warcraft and other immersion MMORPGS can cause social interaction issues, junk food can make you fat (Curse you and your sudden but inevitable betrayal Oreo Cookies), and getting drunk off your ass can get you killed through degraded health, or through accidents.
Porn has its place. In moderation it helps me when the wife is away and I need some stress relief. When she is there we use it for ideas to spice things up.
But when it gets out of hand, it can become a problem.
So in short, it's not the porn that is the problem. It is the underlying behavior behind it. If used in moderation it is fine and healthy. If overused, it's a problem.“There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do.” - Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.

I am single. I am not in a relationship and I refuse to have sexual relations outside of a committed relationship, IE Boyfriend/Girlfriend doesn't have to be engaged or marriage just monogamous. That being said I still have sexual urges and I can't just ignore them. After awhile my desires back up on me and I can't think straight.
So I watch porn to help me alleviate and deal with my sexual needs as a human being and then I go back to the other things I need to do. It's like eating. I need to eat to live I have to do it to live comfortably so I eat. I just don't obsess about it.Jack Faire

Some are almost entirely a-sexual, and some are hyper-sexual to the point of it interfering with other parts of their lives, and a lot are somewhere in the middle ground of what is commonly referred to as "normal." Most people will drift depending on their age, interest, attachment, hormonal cycle, etc, and some can go from one end of the spectrum to the other over a period of time as their situation changes.
I suspect that a high solo use of porn from a person who is in a relationship may be a sign of either mismatched drives, or perhaps one side lacking fulfillment in some way.

They argue that a man can go a long, long time without ejaculating and still lead a normal, healthy, productive life. Therefore, sexual release isn't a necessary biological need, just a perceived necessary biological need.

As to porn in itself: this strip and the rest of the storyline:
http://leasticoulddo.com/comic/20120418"You are who you are on your worst day, Durkon. Anything less is a comforting lie you tell yourself to numb the pain." - Evil
"You're trying to be Lawful Good. People forget how crucial it is to keep trying, even if they screw it up now and then." - Good
