A NY High School Field Hockey Player was benched for being too good.
The player is a boy and the team is all girls.
This is a high school team and he started playing for their varsity team when he was 11 years old. He's now 13.
He's 4'9" & 82 pounds.
Read about it here
He has no size advantage over the girls. There is no Men's Field Hockey Team and he grew up in Ireland, where field hockey is common for both genders.
Is it fair to not let him play?
ETA
He was ruled ineligible because their rules say that boys can play as long as they don't create an advantage over the other team. But still... Given that his advantage is only talent and nothing else, is it fair?
