it turns out she's not quite as fat as reported. 52 stone after losing three stone, so 55 stone rather than 63. anyone want to bet that some of her health issues clear up as soon as she loses the weight?

alos, her article mentions that when she was living with her friend, she kept the weight off. possible idea upon discharge from hospital? ( aka, she moves back in with the friend if possible, with regular check-ups to see if she is still sicking to the diet)

Yeah, I'd agree on that, seeing as it's her parents who are mainly responsible for her weight gain. She should live with her friend and maybe get counselling, too.

considering she was bedridden, how would she get to the door to sneak the food in?

That's what I was thinking too. You don't go from casually strolling down stairs to suddenly not being able to stand up.

All that put aside and it was the truth, if the parents were REALLY trying to get her to eat healthy, wouldn't they be looking out for and trying to prevent such a thing from occuring? While it's true that parents don't know their children's every last secret, something like this is really hard to feign ignorance with.

Yeah; if they were serious, they could have easily have taken her laptop and phone away and only allowed her access to either if they supervised her. They could have brought in only healthy food and set an example by eating healthily themselves. The fact that they didn't seems to suggest that they just didn't give a damn.

Also; re the article, the girl had no clothes that fitted her and wore a sheet. I really don't see how that could go unnoticed by a delivery driver. O_o

She should definitely get counseling. This is not merely eating too much; there are serious mental issues here that need to be worked through. An education on what a healthy diet involves and proper food prep techniques would be most beneficial as well.

I really do hope this young lady can be helped.
