My dad was a master machinist and my mother a tax professional, my uncle a cableman, and my mother and aunt ran a business together that's still going, and they're in their 60s.

Aside from during the time she was pregnant, my mother has smoked both pot and cigarettes since she was in her teens.

well they are the rare ones and that's awesome. But, every single pothead I've known has been a useless lump who gets nothing accomplished in life. And that includes my bf. All he does is watch tv on the couch. And smoke some more and stink up my house.

Yeah, but you're conflating causation with correlation. They're not useless because they're potheads; it's just that lazy useless people like that tend to drift towards becoming potheads. Pot doesn't cause laziness in the same way games don't cause violence, and ice cream doesn't cause murder.

From what I read, she's out of jail on a "conditional release." She's subject to drug and alcohol testing, cannot drive with anyone under the age of 18 in the vehicle, and doesn't get visitations with her child.

It doesn't say how long these are in effect and whether or not they are applied towards staying out of jail or getting custody of her child restored.

considering nothing in the article states she was breastfeeding, and considering it's not the norm, especially as THC DECREASES milk production by inhibiting prolactin(the hormone responsible for lactation), and suspected by a direct action on the mammary glands.

That's a partial sentence, there, but I'll assume that you're pointing out that my comment about her breastfeeding is an assumption on my part.

I can say that breastfeeding at that age is the norm, but not as much as it should be.

I smoke. I enjoy it. I'm also a college student with a 3.97 GPA. Causation =/= correlation. And we are not as rare as you assume. Most of my friends smoke too. They all have decent jobs, pay their bills and have normal lives. But I don't assume everyone who smokes is a productive member of society either. Generalization is bad.

Yeaaaah, no. If a parent does something so unbelievably stupid that it puts a child in mortal danger, they don't have the right to raise that child anymore. The baby could have been run over by a car or killed by the impact when it fell off the roof of the car. Just because the child survived doesn't mean mommy should get a second chance.

I know I'm a terrible person with a window seat on the short bus to Hell, but my first thought when I read the thread title was "Anne Romney?".

Yeah, the first thought of the Romney's treatment of their dog ran through my mind as well.
