10 year old autistic kid was playing with a loose tooth, something that annoyed a teacher's aide. Said aide pulled out a tooth, which just so happens to be the wrong one...

Principal apologises, but mum wants charges filed. Can't exactly say I blame her.

It doesn't matter if the kid was autistic; it was none of the aide's business in the first place. Kids play with loose teeth. They might as well; it's fun, and hopefully something they'll never experience again.

Huh. I didn't read it in that way. I assumed that the autism was mentioned as a reason for there being a teacher's aide. Had my daughter been further along the spectrum, her school would have been eligible for an aide for her.

...A loose tooth is fairly obvious. If you're pulling a tooth that isn't wiggling, you're not paying attention. So...the aide was bothered enough by the tooth to want to yank it, but not enough to make sure they were yanking the correct one. Ok...

All I have to say about that is....OUCH.

And but a funny story about loose teeth involved me and Roll-Ups. At the time, I had my adult teeth coming in behind some of my baby teeth, so we were trying to get rid of the baby teeth. I was given a roll-up by my classmate, bit into it, then pulled it out and saw my tooth. Turned out that I'd pulled out a loose tooth with the roll-up.

After that, mum bought me a whole box of them to get the rest of the teeth to come out!

I loved playing with loose teeth when I was little.

My mom of course would pull them out when they weren't that loose yet. OWIE . Other times, I bit a lego to get 2 pieces off (I swear they were superglued) or at an apple or my tongue loosened it up and it fell off.

Good point, maybe that wasn't as loose. But still, the teacher aide had no right to touch the kid if it bugged them so much.

I wouldn't want a teachers aid, who may or may not have washed their hands in the mouth of my kid. That the child was autistic adds more stupid to the pot. Autistic kids have all sorts of issues. I'm not being mean, its the truth. What if he had bit the aide or something.

We had an article not long ago about a teen who almost died from an asthma attack while his life saving inhaler was readily available, and now we have unauthorized dental work. What the hell is wrong with people?
