  • WalMart worker fired after Black Friday ordeal

Ok, this one is about a 73 year old WalMart worker who, after being placed at the exit door on BF in order to stop people from entering ( right there!), was fired after she grabbed onto the sweater of a customer who shoved her.

    walmart-wtf?

I find myself wondering how, exactly, the woman was supposed to react to being shoved by a customer? Grabbing on to him was probably a fucking REFLEX.

Did WalMart wish to have a repeat of the worker who got trampled in 2008??

Was she supposed to fall to the ground and cover her head and hope for the best?

Come on, some of you - bring it. Wal Mart had a 'right' to fire her, right? I know someone will say it.

...and now I have yet another reason to avoid Wal-mart. Seriously, what the fuck? I have a feeling that she grabbed the asshole, in an effort not to fall after being shoved. Also, my late grandmother wasn't much taller than 4-foot-11 at the end of her life. If someone would have shoved her...well, I probably would have headed back to sporting goods, picked up a bat, and beat the shit out of the customer

That store once again shows just how much they care about their employees. To the company, employees are expendable.

I havent shopped at Wal-Mart for several years. This was after working there. The reason is because of how they treat employees.

Of course they did! Common sense has no place in the workplace! We are all to be drones to the system! /sarcasm

But the bottom line! The filthy front line peons cannot dare to annoy the golden customers! What next will they demand? Their safety? A *gasp* Fair wage?! The nerve

I really gotta wonder how much more there is to the story.

However, I'm sad to say that I can see something like this happening. I used to work at WM p/t and while I liked it well enough, you were screwed if a customer complained to the wrong manager (or to corporate!). One coworker was fired because he shoved a shopping cart that rolled and hit a customer (not intentionally). Not hard, and no one was hurt, but the customer was pissed and complained. Coworker was fired. He'd worked there over 5 years.

There is, but its actually worse.

                To quote:

Usually a store greeter, her manager asked her to guard the entrance from shoppers using it as an exit. This customer, insisting on disobeying her instructions, grew angry with her and in response, shoved her. Thinking she was falling Ms Sullivan says she protectively reached out latching onto the woman.
She wasn't just pushed out of the way, she was literally assaulted by a pissed off customer just for asking her not to use that exit.

"Regardless of her intentions, her actions put her own safety and possibly the safety of a customer in jeopardy," Walmart spokeswoman Kayla Whaling told the Tampa Bay Times. "We can't condone behavior where associates take matters into their own hands."
How this ass backwards loaf of cunt sleeps at night I have no idea.

I think this honestly might be the last straw for me and WalMart. I rarely shop there, but this might finally be push I needed to boycott them completely.

The only way they're ever going to change is if people vote with their wallets.

Taking it into your own hands? A natural reflex against a hostile crowd is considered taking matters into your own hands? WTF?

Just when I was thinking of not boycotting Walmart, something like this happens.

Boycotting small-scale has no effect. They have no idea why you're not patronizing their stores. Hell, they probably have no idea that you've decided not to patronize their stores. If you really want to send a message to Wal-Mart, mail a letter (a real, physical letter, not an email) to corporate.

Good idea. I think I'll get started on one now!

What I want to know is WTF were they thinking, assigning a greeter to the entrance on Black Friday?

my two cents to this is that having a family member in walmart they have added a policy that - and it is dumb - only managers are allowed to go after shoplifters or anyone that poses a threat an employee is NOT TO GO AFTER OR TOUCH OR LAY HANDS ON a customer. EVEN in this situation even if the customer hurts the employee.

yes walmart corporate is STUPID and knows NOTHING of how their store is run or how it is for the employees.
Repeat after me, "I'm over it"
                              Yeah we're so over, over
Things I hate, that even after all this time...I still came back to the scene of the crime
