I was lucky, I got to use my Calculus book for three semesters and my Physics book for two. The books got more gold plated as I got higher in college though. In many ways, I was fortunate that Ann ARbor is the next city down because there were many cases where I couldn't find the books used here (in YPsilanti) but I could find them in Ann Arbor.
Has anyone heard of parents buying textbooks for their kids attending public HIGH SCHOOL? Another forum I read was discussing the outrageous cost of buying their kids text books. Something like they fork over a couple hundred in fees and the teachers buy the textbooks to give the students. And no, they weren't allowed to purchase the books elsewhere.
my daughter's first year in HS was in a PUBLIC HS in a Chicago suburb. we had to buy ALL of her books just like I had to in college. even 12 years ago that was NOT cheap.
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.
I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.
