Can we add the latest trend of recipe sharing to this list? I know it's nothing compared to dead baby photos, but it's gotten annoying. Peanut butter cup brownies, hash brown casserole, snickerdoodle poppers, seriously? Some of it looks good, but most of it looks downright disgusting and about as healthy as eating a tub of margarine.

A mate of a mate posted he wished he could go a day without anyone posting about Maggie and Cameron, myself I'd like to go without the same person (not mate of mate) posting 4 or so Bedroom Tax articles or demotivationals relating to it nearly every bloody day.

I know what you mean about the recipes. There have been some that look really good, but some are just heart attacks waiting to happen. LOL
It's become annoying, because the latest trend is to share so they can find it on their page quicker.
Personally, if I see something I like, I copy and paste into a file, or bookmark the link to the original recipe. To me, that's a lot faster than trying to find it on my page.

It didn't bother me at first, because it was only once in a while, and it was just one or two people, but now, it's about 75% of my friends list who are doing it.
It's like watching the commercials on TV with their power of suggestion.
Five minutes after I start to read, I'm starving and looking for something to nibble on. LOL

I created this for my page the other day:

        Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

I finally hid the biggest offender. One a day is plenty, but it was one after the other to where she shared at least a dozen daily. When the main ingredients are things like 'cheese, ranch dip, bacon bits, butter' . . . yeah that's just gross.

I've seen a lot of recipes popping up in my FB feed as well. Thank goodness, as others have pointed out, for being able to hide people/posts, because it IS getting annoying, and fast!

Today (and all weekend) it has been that "Lincoln/Kennedy Amazing Coincidences".
It's as if somebody just discovered it after 30 years or so. (Not sure when it first originated, but I think I read that it was started as a joke by somebody (Martin Gardner?) who was trying to prove that anybody can make up strange and amazing coincidences between any two people.)

The part that struck me immediately was that, in this version, someone has actually added the sick joke that was made, and edited it to be a fact, rather than the twisted humor it was meant to be.
Nobody has even bothered to fact check or question it.
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
First of all, that was a joke that originally said, "Lincoln was in Monroe, Maryland, while Kennedy was in Marilyn Monroe".

Secondly, the actual fact is that Marilyn died in August, 1962 and JFK died in November, 1963, so, unless he was at a seance with her, that just isn't true.

Also, there is no proof that Lincoln ever had a secretary named "Kennedy" and, in fact, more proof that he didn't!

It just irks me when people read this stuff and take it as fact.

Sooner or later his exploits as a vampire hunter will be seen as fact.
And going by the Asylum version, he wasn't assasinated, but infact was bitten by a zombie and had to be put down in the only way people knew how.

It points out how trivial a lot of those coincidences are. Like both of their names are seven letters! Who cares?

I get a lot of this recipe stuff too, and frankly I'm probably guilty of sharing some of them myself But....I've gotten involved in a lot of secret/hidden groups on there with some friends of mine and wow FB is a whole lot more interesting All of that is hidden from friends that are not in those groups already. A whole underground thing is happening and I'm liking it.

Actually, according to the book, he was turned into a vampire at the end. And is still alive. So there you go. Truth :P

Why like our own statuses in the first place?
Hell I've had some liked that are really not something to be 'liked' like the time early March when I was in the early stages of some form of temporary agoraphobia I stated that I had no left the house to go shopping cos I found a bag of popcorn and that saved me leaving the house, but the next day I all but passed out in the supermarket due to malnourishment of sorts, having a 'like' felt like they just said "cool story bro".
