  • NYC Police Officer Charged in Cannibalism Plot

    http://news.yahoo.com/-232526657.html

    I just...I...

I have no words for how disturbing this is.

I really with the psychos would stay AWAY from kink. Just makes us all look bad.

This reads like a horror movie. He actually got INFORMATION on these women. There's freaky fetish fantasy, and then there's plotting grisly murders.
I have a drawing of an orange, which proves I am a semi-tangible collection of pixels forming a somewhat coherent image manifested from the intoxicated mind of a madman. Naturally.

Er. Yeah. Someone doesn't know the difference between fantasy and reality.

I am eternally grateful that this chap was picked up before he enacted any of his fantasies. The fact that he's a cop just makes it even more terrifying, because all he has to do to get access to vulnerable people is to wear his uniform, knock on the door and ask politely to come in.

And I'll be keeping this link for the next time someone says that the cops should get access to more private data on citizens.

Edit: The fact that there was no victim is the only reason I found this comment on one of the news stories amusing - "To protect and serve... with chips and a nice salad."

I heard about this story. Holy shit. You can't even trust the cops anymore. I'm just glad he got caught before doing anything.

According to the cops, he did do something: gathered intelligence on the women he was specifically targeting. He was making preparations, if the allegations are true, to commit the actual crime. This is premeditation, and conspiracy as well since others were involved.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

As I mentioned on another board; I'm wondering which show is going to rip this story from the headlines first... L&O SVU or CSI NY.

Considering how closely L&O has worked with NYPD, I suspect CSI NY will grab it first (and take it to the final acts of course so they have bodies to gross out over).

As for the actual story itself, ewwwwwwww... I'm echoing that I'm glad he was caught before he could act on those fantasies.

Hmm, I say CSI. Despite their efforts to compete with CSI, L&O has been largely grounded. This story is one of those "too weird to be true" and they probably won't go for it. CSI on the other hand had done FAR more bizzare stories so it's right up their alley.

You're both wrong. This is clearly an episode of Criminal Minds. In CSI the suspect is almost always in for it for financial gain or some kind of revenge. This guy is in for it for his insane fantasy. Add to it he is a cop, and it makes for a major plot twist during the episode as the group eventually realizes they gave away their profile and entire investigation plan to the perpetrator who was likely in the police room at the time and has to race against time to find who the next victim is.

Fair point. I don't watch much TV so I'm not up to speed on all the crime dramas.

True. I forgot about Criminal Minds. This is right up their alley, and having the Unsub be someone on the force they're working with to catch him would be a good twist.

Didn't they already do a story like this once?
