  • NYC Bans Food Donations to Homeless Shelters...

...because the city can't monitor the amount of salt, fiber, and fat intake of homeless people.

My mother was a health freak and even she wasn't this intrusive of my eating habits when I was younger. At what point does a government, whether it's federal or municipal, start to finally cross the line into big-brother nannyism?

So... they'd rather let the homeless starve to death than to survive, even if it's not the most healthy of diets?

    HOW DOES THIS MAKE SENSE!

The soft drink thing didn't cross that line? I wonder if it ever occurred to these fine gents that people can get free refills in 99% of restaurants >_> All the soft drink semi-ban does is make more work for the servers.

        Fun Fact;

I'm currently eating stove top ramen at the moment. TAKE THAT MAYOR BLOOMBERG.

This'll end up in court for sure.

Normally I don't go in for the nanny state conspiracy theories, but this . . . .

Is nanny state in action. And I'm a health care professional. What's next? Banning canned foods from food banks?

Is the City of New York going to put these homeless folks on medication and monitor and treat their blood pressure? Ban the sale of alcohol to anyone without a fixed address?

          This is getting ridiculous.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

I remember people complaining about Giuliani being Draconian when he was mayor, but this is getting silly. People can still vote, right? Bloomberg will have a challenger?

On a more serious note than my previous post: The everloving fuck you selfrightious fuck, Bloomberg. -_-

If he doesn't want them getting a ton of fat and salt and shit, fine. Is he going to bloody well supply them with the food they need then? Thats up to his standards?

Walking around all day (picking up garbage or merely walking from shelter to shelter) is great for burning off excess calories, Bloomberg.

Control the food, control the people... Where have we heard this before???

If I remember correctly Bloomberg isn't going to run again. I was also under the impression that there was a two term term limit on the office. How did he get a third???

The first time I heard this, I honestly thought the link provided would take me to the Onion. This man is so out of touch with reality. It's like he doesn't understand what being "homeless" entails.

He really meant it when he says we've come so far

Recent legislation increased it to three terms.

SHHHHHH, don't give him any ideas. Canned foods are often loaded with preservatives/salt; that could make them a prime target >_>

I wanna say he's a lame duck right now (in the last term he is allowed to serve), and thus, effectively free of any major consequences of his actions if he ticks off the voters. As long as he doesn't do anything that's actually illegal, anyway.

I'd love it if he could find out first hand.
