Ok.. this is a bit less black and white then it first appears. She COULD have been fired for that..OR for stealing. It's a matter of he said/she said right now. I want more facts before jumping on the business on this one.

All of the articles mention that she was fired for "stealing boxes from her office," which is a pretty petty thing to fire someone for when they had been working 100 hours per week prior to going into labor.

At this stage, it appears like they latched onto the first excuse they could grab once they no longer needed her services (and at the first hint that they might have to actually cover her when she wasn't busting her ass for them).

I agree. It seems like an excuse. "Oh uh, we have an impending PR disaster on our hands. Quick, we need a cover story!"
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

I heard that what was in those boxes were baby items that people got for her.
"I like him aunt Sarah, he's got a pretty shield. It's got a star on it!"

Oh, if that's true than the Standard is Extra Classy!

Honestly I find the fact the hotel won't release a statement regarding this a lot more damning then anything else. If you were justified defend your company.

I don't find the lack of a statement much to go on either way.

A lot of times, once one side has lawyered up, the other side clams up and lets the lawyers do the talking.
