  • Another senseless killing by teenagers

    http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/...182999041.html

First it was 2 13 year olds in my state beating their Grandmother to death for pizza money. Now 2 or 3 13 year olds shoot and kill a 22 years old woman after she tells them to "Get a job" after they tried to bum a cigarette off of her BF.
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

And if arrested and convicted, how old will they be when they get out? Mid-20s?

Courts are charging more and more teens as adults these days. It could be their 40s before they're out.

They are 13 and 14. Maybe if they were 16 or 17 I'd agree, but no chance for these kids.

If anything, their parents are probably going to be held liable for massive damages in civil court, if not for criminal negligence charges.

Every State has the legal ability to charge teens under 16 as adults. Kansas and Vermont have laws allowing them to charge 10 year olds as adults. 23 other states have no minimum ages at all.

Cristian Fernandez is being tried as an adult for a murder and sexual assault he committed at 13.

Nathaniel Brazill was charged at 13 for murdering his teacher

Lionel Tate was tried as an adult for killing his 6 year old sister when he was 12

Here's another link about the story...from a paper that's a bit more local. I've been up to the city in question, and yes, it's a shithole. There's no industrial base up there now, and nearly 25% of the city's population lives below the poverty line.

I'm sorry but honestly they killed a person over wounded pride. I'm not sure how much of a chance there was to being with.

Papers don't normally print the names of minors who committed crimes, unless they're being charged as adults. This article did print the names.

Looks like the perps were acting out of a sense of entitlement (after all, what right did the victim have to refuse to give them something that she had spent her hard-earned money on?). Considering the fact that tobacco is an age-restricted product, I wonder what the perps' reactions would have been if the victim had told them "I'm not going to risk 5 years in jail to supply kids I don't know with tobacco".
