  • Woman refuses to be pulled over unless given $300,000

    http://www.wistv.com/story/20310937/...unswick-county

I am honestly getting really sick of the Sovereign Citizen movement. The whole thing is so ridiculous. This woman had a TEN minute conversation with 911, While driving, to say she wasn't going to pull over.

If you don't "recognize" the laws of your municipal, state, or federal government, perhaps you should not live in the country.

This story just bothers me so much I don't know what to say.

She's driving recklessly in an object capable of killing others demanding $300,000 to stop doing so. That's not much different than waving a gun around demanding the same, if you ask me. Perhaps they could also charge her with attempted armed robbery?

It's a stretch, of course, but when you think about it, the differences are negligible.

I explored the "sovereign citizen" stuff when I was in my early 20's. I was unable to find any reliable information that could categorically prove that it was anything more than wishful thinking, and I eventually "grew up" and realized that I've benefited from being part of the society I live in. Why would I want to artificially separate myself from it, just to get out of paying some taxes?

Not much of a stretch depending on how reckless she's driving.

So, you're your own country all to yourself? Fine. Then stay in your house until you get a visa approved to visit the rest of us... at which time, you'll still have to obey the laws like anyone else, including those visiting from real foreign states.

Did this woman only watch halfway through the Petoria episode of Family Guy? She should have watched the entire thing, then she would have seen how trying to act like your own sovereign nation is a terrible idea.

Here's the problem with the "sovereign citizen" crap. ASSUMING that the nations of the world recognize it (which they don't) there's still the issue that if you are in another country you must follow their laws.

If they really want to pull that crap then they can be happily tossed on a boat that's going out into the middle of nowhere.

They could have thrown in distracted driving as well. Hopefully that county has a "hands free" law as well (as long as she wasn't using one).

Did anyone look at the mug shots with the article?

A deputy has to hold her head in place. She was refusing to have her mug shot taken.

She was also arrested for DWI, which probably was the real reason she was refusing to pull over; it's her 2nd one.

She also has a history of stalking cops who arrest her.

The sovereign citizen crap has long been debunked by the courts; no judge takes it seriously. She'll be laughed out of court and into jail.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
