With the upheld decision article, it's obvious that this is a misquote.

When she complained of not having enough sex, he commented that her not getting any was like having a Lamborghini and not driving it.

Considering that both parties engaged in association that was inappropriate from the standpoint of a purely business relationship, I still don't think the court was wrong in their decision, particularly when they can back it up with the decisions of every case of it's like they could find.

So, word to the wise: If you have a relationship with your boss outside of work, that relationship can be grounds for said boss firing you despite their acknowledgement that you're the best employee they have. At least in Iowa.

      Stare Decicis is a bitch.

Is Iowa a right to work state? That may be at the core of this. When you allow someone to be fired for any reason at the employers discretion except for certain protected reasons, you open this can of worms. I think dudebro needs to grow up instead and realize his pants don't run his life and how to get over it like the rest of the male population. But, this is going to be the same concept as getting fired because your boss doesn't like you. In right to work, that's valid.

Iowa is an at will state (right to work is another issue entirely), which means that as long as it's not a protected status, anything is fair game for letting a person go with no notice.

He gave her a month's pay when he fired her, which should be more than enough time for her to find another job, considering she wasn't fired for lack of skill.

The fact that she was fired due to issues that weren't actually related to the job, but about their extra-professional relationship, he's covered. If they didn't have a relationship beyond the purely work-related, then his firing her for such issues could have been argued to have been sexual discrimination, but as it stands, that argument is actually off the table, which is why she lost. Twice.
