Arrested for carrying condoms?

I read about this on cracked. Having condoms can be considered proof of prostitution.

This is just stupid. Having condoms doesn't prove a damn thing and even if they did, what does it matter? It's no ones business what two consenting adults do. By making it a crime, we end up losing more rights when cops try to bust people for this (just like the war on drugs).

I've always liked George Carlin's take on it. Selling is legal; fucking is legal. Why is selling fucking illegal?

There's all sorts of loopholes and ways to get around the prostitution laws, anyway. Make the prostitute sign a modeling waiver, and film it. Bingo, now you're making pornography, which is legal!

so its' women being arrested for carrying a few condoms? And how the hell can they arrest anyone for prostitution without witnessing an agreement of money that will be exchanged? I always thought that was the arresting point, when money was mentioned.

Wow, I always had a purse full as a teenager, I was a volunteer outreach worker for <city> AIDS support network, I knew, and was known by many of the local kids, and the adult support workers realized the under 18's-under 25's would come to me and ask rather than go to an adult, Before I was "drafted" I would go ask the adult volunteers, they decided it was easier to "cut out the middleman", and just have me make pick ups.(if I was out, I would actually go buy them, I didn't want my friends at risk because they were "embarrassed")

Some jurisdictions aren't so interested in arresting the prostitutes, so much as the johns. They'll "arrest" the prostitutes at the same time that they arrest the john, but release the prostitute after a night in jail without ever charging her.
