Ok, the report is from the Daily Mail, so you can be sure that it has put the worst possible spin on the story. I'd be interested in seeing the Guardian's spin on the case, but it seems to have passed them by.
The facts are that an 18-year-old went online, found a 13-year-old girl, met up with her at a Premier Inn, and had sex with her.
His defense made the claim that his education left him with little knowledge about women (He told shrinks that the school he went to taught him that women had no more worth than a lollypop dropped on the ground - so I suspect that that was the most inflammatory think the DM reporters could find in the court documents...)
Still, the judge decided against a custodial sentence, saying that it would do him more harm that good.
There are aspects to this that make it a candidate for Social Woes, Politics, Religion and Church and State.
