    Well, I'm only 24 so I don't have much of a choice.

*shrug* Your comment was written as a blanket statement, not a personal statement. I corrected an obvious omission.

Well, we are getting to the point where people of working age fall into the age category where they have to register. What's the cutoff gap? People born before 1960? That means in 12 more years, everyone who is of working age will have to register.

Males aged 18 to 25 are required to register. Last time I checked, I'm pretty sure it was 18 to 35.

I believe even back in my time (35 years ago), after the draft was stopped and the Selective Service signup was instated ALL males (US citizens or immagrants) over the age of 18 were REQUIRED to sign up within 30 days of their 18th b-day who were born after Jan 1, 1960 (signed by Pres Carter making the registration requirement retroactive after Pres Ford signed an act terminating the registration requirement)

Right, sorry for the confusion. I meant that by the year I mentioned, everyone of working age will have already been required to sign up for the selective service.

I actually didn't, but that's because of circumstances. I enlisted at 17, entered Marine Corps boot camp two months after my 18th birthday, mustered out on a medical discharge a month and a half later. For some reason, they didn't want me back after that.

It's been a while, but as I remember it, if you don't register while eligible, any disadvantage from not having registered is lifelong.

Yes, and with all due respect, I don't know you (or most people on this forum) well enough to share that one.
