Greatest response ever. I wish more places were like that.

Yeah, I doubt 98% of their customers agree with this woman. In the middle of New York, which has had equal marriage a couple of years now? Where a huge amount of the population supports equality? Yeah, lady. Keep delluding yourself that the majority is on your side. If I owned that coffee shop, I would have said 'thank goodness' too.

"Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out" would have worked too.

I like how the bitch responded to the store's response, "Go FUCK yourselves."

Classy, lady, classy. I'm just itching to hop on your bandwagon . . . so I can kick your ass.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

I laughed when I read the woman's response. "Go fuck yourselves!", indeed. I hate to break it to her, but "98%" of the country is a bit too high of a number. Try less than 50%. According to recent polls, the majority of people in the country are actually for same sex marriage. I wonder if she was surprised by all of the hatred she received on Twitter and Facebook for her ignorant comments and hate-filled verbal diarrhea.

She needs a kick in the teeth, not a cup of coffee.

No, to her the 98% is accurate. She feels that those who support same sex marriage aren't people or at least not "reel 'mericans" and the 2% are those who are on the fence.

Just wondering what planet she's from that she thinks 98% of their customer base agrees with her ... If I were in the area I'd certainly drop in there now and again.

I think her "Go FUCK yourselves" response was partly from shock that they didn't cave on the instant and beg to keep her custom.

I want to know on what planet supporting marriage equality is the same as discriminating against non-gay couples. Stupid woman.

It's the same old tribalistic "if you're not with us, you're against us," crap.

                      I know.

I could see an argument going like this, "We don't support gay marriage because we believe in the Biblical position that man and woman become one flesh. Since we consider homosexual sex acts (not homosexuality itself) to be sinful, we can't support allowing gays to marry because the very foundation of marriage means intimacy (ie sex), therefore to condone gay marriage means to condone gay sex, and that's somewhere we can't go." Please note, I'm speaking in hypotheticals here.

However, anti gay marriage doesn't usually go there. They just go with the homosexuality is a sin and leave it at that.

But you can't show me that gay marriage hurts heterosexuals in any way, shape or form. They make the claim, but they never explain it, meaning it is bogus.

The variation we get on that argument down here (at the moment, same-sex marriage is NOT an option, however gay couples can be classed as "de facto" for welfare, meaning that they will get the couples rate for certain payments) is basically "Australia was founded on a Christian nation/principles" and they can't back THAT one up. I usually challenge them to find where in the constitution it specifically states that (in fact, the ONLY passage relating to religion is the "freedom of religion" one)

The funny thing with their argument is, denying gay marriage doesn't stop gay sex. They're already having it. They're already raising children (I'm gay, but I'm using 'they' instead of 'we' because I have neither had sex nor am I raising children). In fact, since anti-gays complain so much that all gay people are promiscuous and engage in risky sexual behavior with multiple partners, you'd think they'd ENCOURAGE marriage, as marriage would encourage monogamy and less risky behaviors.

If that's what they REALLY cared about. It's not. And they fail to realize that several OTHER countries have had equal marriage for years, and NONE of the things they have predicted as dire, earth-shattering consequences have happened yet. What, God only loves America? If Canada has equal marriage God gives it a wink and a pass, but if America does it, suddenly it's 'oh no! can't have that! **doomfire, lightning, armageddon, etc**
