Did I say that? No? Then why are you hearing it? Shall I rephrase it three or four more times again? Just because its not a big deal to them doesn't mean everyone else isn't allowed to have an opinion about it. -.-

While the headline is catchy having Anne Frank's step sister weigh in, fact is Eva and Anne were not close and did not know each other long before they were caught. Eva's family was actually caught 3 months before Anne's. Eva survived the concentration camps and became Anne Frank's step sister after Anne's death. She was never Anne's sister while she was alive. It was 8 years after Anne had died that Anne's father and Eva's mother were married. It just makes for a catchy news headline.

Would she have liked Bieber? Who knows. She loved movie stars, not singers. Debating that is kind of pointless though. Whether or not she would have liked Bieber is irrelevant and doesn't make Bieber's bad form any better.

You said they were being polite without reference to the rest of the sentiment, which is a huge inference that you don't agree with the rest of the sentiment.

That's an interesting debate tactic, actually. Say something that will get people to fill in the blanks (because the actual important stuff wasn't there to begin with) so that the response can be all upset that the blanks weren't filled in the right way. An excellent way to deflect from the actual debate.

        Really?

The Anne Frank House doesn't get to decide whether or not other people are upset about Bieber's lack of tact. That's... Pretty much it. It's nice if they're being polite about it and it's impressive if they're not actually offended, but that doesn't mean other people can't be upset by him representing himself poorly. Again.

So let me get this straight: You making an assumption and filling in the blanks with what you think is there is *my* fault? Interesting debate tactic indeed. Never mind the fact I stayed on topic. So what, you come up with what you think I'm saying and think that I'm doing it to deflect away from....nothing?

          Exactly, thank you.

I've gone through this thread and I'm inclined to think it was the tacky phraseology that ticks people off at least as much as the sentiment expressed. "A belieber," ye gods ...

As for his age, that isn't necessarily relevant (should be, but isn't). I remember once covering a fundraiser for a local hockey team. I got there around 5:30 p.m., IIRC, and ... the team members were gone. Coaches, parents, etc. were still there. When I expressed surprise, somebody said, "Oh, well, they're just kids." Team members' ages? 16 to 18. I said rather bluntly that if 16- to 18-year-olds can't see a fundraiser through to the end, for their own hockey team, I wouldn't bother to donate to it.

Yes. And we Canadians would like to apologize for ... apologizing all the time.
