Not sure if they were the ones who tried to send the president ricin though

Thanks ;p
CNN was asked not to release things, and they're so American-centric that they DIDN'T RELEASE THEM. Instead of... I dunno, spending equal time talking about how they were not talking about things?
If someone says to me, "Don't mention this, but..." I don't spend five minutes telling someone I was told not to mention something. I just don't mention it.
I fail to see how, when asked not to bring attention to someone, going on to basically bury them and hardly mention them at all proves that they're horribly ethnocentric."Nam castum esse decet pium poetam
ipsum, versiculos nihil necessest"

I'm not getting any sense that the article is hinting at... well, anything. It's taking impressions from people who were there and weaving them together with how people view the day of the race.

That was, quite simply, the first article that came up on a Google news search about the attack when put in reverse chronological order. Pardon me if I point out it's utter and complete lack of relevance to anyone not continuing to jump to unfounded conclusions.
Is Fox News American enough for you?
How about ABC?
Or the New York Daily News?Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden

Since it seems I need to break things down again before I choke on the amount of words being jammed down my throat in this thread.
My point was: CNN is not helping the argument. Their headline story over reports two victims, under reports the third, there is no mention of why the third is under reported.. You link a website from Israeli to explain why this is. Now you're linking me stories that state precisely the information that was missing from CNN. Which actually helps my original point that CNN is not helping the argument at hand.
Are you going to make me post everything twice just to make sure you don't keep imagining things I'm not saying? Or can we stop this now before the thread gets closed?

CNN didn't say much about the third victim because they had jack and shit available at the time. Now that they have more available, it's the first paragraph on their page on the incident.Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden

So yeah, when you tell me a death toll of 3 is a "global tragedy" I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.

Also the standard blaming the "godlessness" of america.
At least most conspiracies have the obvious common "nutjob" element. I'm betting on nutjob, seems to be a solid theory.
*I was unable to go to any news sites yesterday, the photos of the aftermath, nearly caused a breakdown. I saw one, and I'm pretty much running on zero sleep right now, the nightmares were on hiatus, they're back again, which means fun anti-anxiety meds again.

For the third time: My only point was CNN is not helping in regards to the argument going on in this thread ( That argument being that the US media over sensationalizes tragedy and tends to be overtly US-centric ). I do not know what argument you keep thinking I am making.
It feels like you two are trying to shove an American flag and a lighter into my hands then yelling at me for trying to burn your flag.

You seem to be complaining that CNN left the Chinese student out to focus on the two Americans killed.
I think that's unfair. First of all, the identity of that student only recently was released. The family doesn't want to give the level of personal detail we're used to seeing in these kinds of reports; not surprised, it's not their culture to do that. So we're not likely to get much, and I'm fine with that. I respect their privacy and their grief.
So basically, because CNN couldn't shit out a complete bio of the third victim, they're somehow ethonocentric because you find details from Linkedin reported in other press venues. That's a thin argument, and I don't buy it. Maybe CNN just got scooped because they didn't get to the social media first. Because right now, that's all the info on this person that's available.Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

The argument going on in this thread: US media is overly US centric and over sensationlizes tragedy. CNN sensationlizes the two American victims. Has no information on the non-American victim and does not state why they don't have that information. Andara comes up with a bunch of articles explaining why no one has that information. That makes CNN look worse by comparison. Andara points out CNN has updated themselves. That makes CNN worse by showing they may have jumped the gun. So like I said, again CNN is not helping the argument because they seemingly played into that stereotype.
Hence what I said: CNN is not helping.
Do you want me to explain a fourth or fifth time using slightly different words? I don't know how many different ways I can explain what was a pretty simple statement.
You even just admitted it yourself with the language "You seem to be". Not you did or you are. You seem to be. Despite repeated explanations to the contrary. How would you feel if people jumped down your throat because they THOUGHT you were doing something despite how many times you explain otherwise? For the second time in this thread?
Because personally its really beginning to tick me off.

I want to know how slathering the airwaves with what information they do have counts as "jumping the gun" when it's still breaking news?
Technically, everybody is jumping the gun. Still.Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden
