I haven't seen this (little too intense for the toddler, it sounds like) but according to someone who told me about it, this is one line in the entire film, and does not come up as a plot point at all.

I think 8 or 9 is about the youngest that I would show the movie to - not because of the gay thing, but because it can be sort of scary.
