I got the "teasing about reading" thing at school, too. I also got branded a slag (Brit slang for slut) at secondary for two reasons; namely, I had a big bust at a time when the other girls were still in vests and training bras and secondly, I liked to talk to the boys all the time. Fact was, having three brothers meant I was more on the boys' wavelength and I much prefered to discuss football with them rather than boybands with the girls.

The most stupid thing about my slag label? I was a virgin, and stayed one all thru school.
"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

Your are the second person to reply that they experienced this.

I am saddened that this is not the unique and highly unusual happening I thought it was.

Why do people even slut shame anyway? Does it give them a sense of moral superiority? Or do they just like to be dicks? (or both).

Well, in the age in question of this project, it's really just another form of bullying. Middle schoolers are one) dicks and two) fascinated by sex. This is a bad combination as it tends to lead to bullying for things you wish you can do/aren't sure you can do/don't fully understand/are jealous about.

It's a really, really stupid age.
          I has a blog!
