  • "Marriage means giving consent forever"

I kind of spoiled the punchline to this one with the title, but really, I heard that recently and it was one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life. I was watching Breaking Bad with some friends of mine - a series I've watched through a couple of times already, but I keep introducing it to people and watching it again because it's so good - and we got to that scene in season 2 (I think) where Walter very nearly rapes his wife. The entire point of the scene is to show how much darker and more willful Walt has become since starting his whole meth operation. Cue dumbass guy I know:

    Dumbass: Wow, what a bitch.

Me: (not fully comprehending) Uhh, what?

Dumbass: He wants to have sex with his wife and she just pushes him away. What a bitch.

Other Friend: Well, it's understandable that she doesn't want to have sex with him now. Look at what he's done.

Dumbass: But they're married. She can have sex with him anytime she wants, and so can he. That's, like, the entire point of marriage.

Me: Are you serious? It doesn't matter if you're married or not - if one partner doesn't want to have sex, then forcing it on them is rape. It's still non-consensual.

Dumbass: Marriage means giving consent for life!

At this point, I was so awestruck that I was basically speechless. So, being the smoothest motherfucker on earth, I just got up and left without saying anything >_> I don't even know what you do say to that. It's so wrong in so many ways, that to address them all would probably require me to think like him, which I don't think I can distort my mind enough to do.

That's odd, cause I thought marriage was about finding an amazing person to share the joys and sorrows of life with. That's just me though... maybe that's why I'm still single.

Please, PLEASE tell me Dumbass is single.

(Though the right for a wife to refuse sex with her husband is shockingly recent.)

Um...if Kabe ever tried to make me have sex when I didn't want to, he'd get his ass kicked.

I love him and all, but that doesn't mean I want to have sex constantly either.

Marriage means having a partner with whom you compromise willingly, and your sex life is one of those things.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. Marriage means never having sex again.

I was waiting for this one . . . I can hear a friend of mine echoing this in my head.

But yeah, Dumbass is a, well, dumbass. Sad thing is, he'll probably find some dumb co dependant ditz who will let him do that to her, and they'll breed more dumbasses.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

Yeah, looking back now, this probably wasn't something to joke about, and for that I apologize. Back on the topic at hand, what that idiot said was wrong in so many ways.

No no no, it's all about having sex... remember, that's why gays and lesbians want marriage, so that our sex will be legitimized and we can have it in abundance

Or that they can do it with children

(seriously, I've heard some people making the leap from gay marriage to gay adoptions and don't provide a reason why a loving, caring, homosexual couple are worse parents than a heterosexual couple who are able to cheat the system and then start abusing their kid)

As for the OP....my boyfriend has tried on one occasion to get me to perform oral sex on him. He grabbed my head, tried to force it down there (I should add in this context that he was INCREDIBLY drunk and also butt-nekkid*) and I told him to stop. He DID stop thankfully and after he saw the video and realised what he'd done, he apologised profusely. He hasn't tried it since and also knows that I do not like having my head grabbed during sex.

*=we were playing a game that was originally a drinking game and ended up becoming a strip drinking game. The game? Mario Kart for the Nintendo 64. Basically, the lowest-placed racer lost an item of clothing. The drinking part involved any negative thing happening to you (falling off, getting knocked out by another racer or item, finishing at a certain space) requiring you to take a sip of your drink (I did it with fruit juice as I was on an antipsychotic and an antidepressant at the time). Boyfriend was stupidly drunk at this point and naked. Boyfriend's friend was also stupidly drunk and naked. Result? "To foreskin or not to foreskin." O_o

Hardly seems fair to hold a drinking game where some are drinking alcohol and others fruit juice.

Or, for that matter, to make a video of a stripping game, but y'all do what you like.

but, as it is that you have admitted video exists, video or it never happened
