  • Most sexist show

A chat show in Denmark has a women strip in front of the host and his guest (also male) while they comment on her figure.

And if that weren't bad enough, he says he's doing it because "the female body thirsts for the words of a man".

Sorry for the language, but...LIKE HELL
    I has a blog!

      Public humiliation.

That, and they'd most likely get paid a lot less (if anything) for appearing on TV.

Rebel, the most I go to strip clubs is to drop off mail.

choice. Strippers know thye'll ahve to strip when they become a stripper. Someone invited to appear on a chatshow does not expect to be asked to strip.

Don't the women have choice here too?

I mean ... are they completely unaware of what the show is about before they agree to make an appearance?

In a way this kinda makes me think of the age-old question... does it really degrade women as an entire gender if individual adults consent to things like this? Who decides what is and isn't degrading? What of the choices of the women involved?

One could perhaps argue that they are "forced" in that the choice - strip or get the fuck out - isn't fair, but ... it's still their choice overall.

Yes it angers some women that there are men who look at women in ways they disapprove of... but if the women they look at are consenting, who really as the right to tell them "no. you can't do that, it's degrading!"

are we better then them if our choices are different? or do we need to accept that their adult choices are not ours and just leave it at that?

My major thing wasn't that women are going on the show (I mean, that's their choice...); it's more the premise of the show in the first place.

Who thought this was a good idea?

Well... of course it's the premise of the show. It would be kinda messed up to have a show that *didn't* have it as a premise and then require it.

But I suspect it attracts viewers who don't want to have to constantly watch what they say lest they offend someone else. someplace where they can enjoy saying what they feel without being beat over the head by the PC-police.

apples and oranges. She went on the chat show expecting your usual chat show fare ( I don;t watch chat shows, so don't know what usually goes on) I doubt she went onto the chat show knowing she would be required to strip. It is unfair to spring that on her.

In other words, if the chat show often did things like this, I have no problem with it, since the woman really should have known better. Otherwise, she was probably pressured into doing something she didn't want to do.

                          Ok, first of all...no.

I don't disagree with your basic premise. I think that, so long as they know what they're getting into, a woman electing to be on this show isn't necessarily degrading. I mean, I personally find it pretty sexist and kind of twisted, but if that's what people want to do, hey, whatever. But there is very little that irritates me more than people who try to pretend that their vices aren't vices, and to add some nobility to them.

People would watch this show for the titillation, or because they think "a woman's body thirsts for the approval of men" or whatever. People would not watch this show because they are free thinkers unbound by the shackles of society, though they may tell themselves that. It's ok to have vices - I have plenty myself - but don't try to pretend like they're anything more than that.
