not all of the measures are useless, Andara. Training peoiple who are buying guns on gun safety is a good idea, for one. The "cooling-off" period is stupid, but only because it is at the wrong point; a mandatory delay in getting the permit in the first place is probably a good idea (basically, the wait period being designed to facilitate background checks.) the notice of ammo sales is pretty stupid, though, since context is important. (for example, a competitive shooter is likely to be buying far more ammo than someone who only has a gun for home defense. I imagine said competitive shooter is going to get tired of repeatedly explaining why they need to use large amounts of ammo every time they get more (competitive shooters need to train to be able to compete. guess how they train?)

I'm beginning to think the reason some people are so rabid about the guberment coming to take their guns is because they know they shouldn't be allowed remotely near one. >.>

Then zero tolerance starts to make sense, not allowed to have even a picture of a gun sounds stupid on the whole, but it seems we are close to that special kind of stupid where even that could accidentally discharge.

You get enough people doing something, you're going to get some idiots, no question. But it's a gross mistake to extrapolate from the headliners to society as a whole. The headliners are, by definition, something out of the ordinary.

When there are literally hundreds of millions of gun owners in the US, even one shooting a day over the entire US is still nothing more than a statistical blip - 365 deaths a year would still be one five-hundredth of a percent of the gun owners.

Which is not to excuse the idiots, mind you.
