I am trying to find words to describe how I feel about this. It's something like being really annoyed, being angry, and getting close to not caring anymore all at once.

And I'm getting really sick of the way COD is treated in the media. It's a game about warfare and intrigue. It's a FPS with an actual story. The way the media describes half the time makes it sound like the person is playing Ted Bundy or something like that.

I don´t think he is trying to blame ADD, I think he was freaking out and blurted the first mental problem that came to him. Nobody would actually think that ADd would cause that

I don´t think he said anything specific. "Being a murderer can make you go to jail and ruin your life" seems to me, is pretty much common knowledge.

As someone who very far from where this happened, I would like to ask:

How common is it for minor to have it is own firearm?

(not just have a firearm for his use that is kept by the parents, given to him when in ahunting trip o watever and them taken back, but actuallty something that is theirs, and they can take and fidle with it whenever they want)

I would guess it is not exactly common. In the rural areas of my state (where my in-laws live) it is very common for youngsters to have their own guns and learn to hunt and target shoot at a young age. But most of the time the gun is kept in a locked cabinet unless it is being used for one of those purposes, under adult supervision.

This kid has serious mental issues and (admittedly not knowing him personally) I would hesitate to ever again trust him to live in society. It's one thing for a teenager to get mixed up in something unsavory, it's entirely another to lose it, attempt to rape your own mother and then shoot her TWENTY TIMES.

I can't say how common it is, but even when I had my own firearm as a kid, there was approximately zero chance I could get anywhere near it except when we were doing target shooting.

I don't think anybody is straight up blaming the game. It sounds like the kid was terrified and just babbling, even he wasn't sure why he did it which was why he was speculating about the game. I think a psychological explanation is most likely, he suffers from some kind of mental disorder and needs to be institutionalized. Sad story.

This kid will probably end up in a mental institution rather than a prison. It sounds like he has a serious disorder ("explosive violent tendencies"), and it would be a bad idea to put him in a prison environment. He'd end up either getting himself or someone else killed.

I doubt he went shooting every day. I doubt she was afraid of him. She probably just saw it as typical teen behavior and the best way to discipline him was take away what he did spend a lot of time doing: playing video games.

In many parts of the US, very common actually. Some kids are introduced to guns and hunting between the ages of 10 and 12 (depending on state laws), and get their own guns as gifts. Most kids of this type learn gun safety.

Some don't.

Then there is the marketing to even younger children, which guns designed for kids as young as 5.

Unfortunately, some parents DO NOT do a good job of teaching gun safety, don't keep the guns locked up and unloaded when not in use. Those are the situations where you hear of little kids accidentally shooting one another.
