  • Abercrombie & Fitch gets rebranded ...

You've probably heard about Abercrombie & Fitch's CEO saying they only want the pretty people to wear their clothes, so they don't manufacture them in plus sizes and they only hire "good-looking, cool people" to work in their stores. The resulting fallout has been loud and often expletive-loaded (especially if you've seen what the CEO looks like ... we're not exactly talking Fabio here ...)

What do you think of this?

I like the overall idea ... but some people have argued that it's using the homeless to score political points.

So, Abercrombie and Fitch wants to limit their market to a demographic that is getting smaller every day due to the obesity problem in our country.

They do have larger men's clothes, so it's just the larger women that are the problem, according to the store.

      Sizeist AND sexist. Awesome.

I'm not sure that giving homeless people clothing to make a statement about a brand name clothing line doesn't make you also a douchebag.

A&F wants to market their product to the pretty people with more money than sense. It's a winning strategy and always has been. I can't fault them for it. I can choose to not buy their shit, however.

All this from a CEO that looks like GAry Busey's love child?

          Sheesh.

          Screw him.

I've seen a parody of the line called Applecrumble & Fish. I see it a lot in the major port town close to me. ^^

Its definitely drifting a bit into hipster douchebag territory.

Unless I'm thinking of another brand, but I don't see what the big deal behind Abercrombie and Fitch is anyway. For the most part it looks pretty ratty...but I guess as the song says, "You can't dress trashy until you spend alot of money".

A&F never looked good to me. I have seen a very few nice shirts that came out but they didn't last very long and unless you had the shoulders for them they didn't hang right. So ya know what...screw em and let them now fail.

i'm all for buying thriftstore clothing and donating it to homeless shelters anyway, so i don't see it as that big a deal. i mean, sure doing it to spite "the man" is hipster (hippie?) BS, but in the end clean, warm clothing gets to the people that need it.
i just wish people would be willing to do the exact same stuff without requiring a version of "the man" to fight.

Dolly Parton said "It's costs a lot of money to look this cheap."

I asked my youngest son if he had any A&F clothing and he said in a very loud and emphatic voice "Hell No!!!"
Neither of my sons were/are big on having the current gotta have fashion stuff for boys/men. My youngest would just as soon wear overalls from tractor supply all the time. Now my daughters would be clothes/shoe/hand bag horses (like their mother) is they could afford it or if I bank-rolled it.
As of tomorrow morning my youngest daughter will be graduating from high school at 15 years 1 month and 18 days. She will be moving her primary means of funding from the Bank of Daddy to the Payroll of Daddy and there is a big difference between the two.
