Wasn't able to take the first quiz (kept kicking me to the Korean Disney site), but I got a tie between Jasmine and Ariel for the second quiz.
As far as the princesses getting marketing makeovers, the main reason I don't like them is because they are looking more and more the same. What's the point of having different characters if they all just look the same? And the mouths just look... wrong to me.

I've rarely seen an oriental Anime character, they seem to just paint white black or alien skin tones.
But Mulan has been whitewashed.
Now finding out the Ice Queen is Scandinavian and the princesses blonde you cant really say "oh no not more blonde Disney princesses." outside of Bjork I can't think of one Scandinavian that isn't blonde, it's kinda their thing, there was probably a spartanesque pit at some point in history.

I might have seen black cauldron once, but Disney has vaulted way too many movies for no damn reason, the only one with merit is Songs of the South, but TBH I would rather it still be available even if not branded as a Disney movie but under touchstone or any other Buena vista brand.
It might have been ill thought out, but the bits I saw were good and at one point were released on their own.

I hate the loss of movies, even bad ones, or even questionable ones.
A movie may have been a flop, but someone somewhere should be allowed to re release the shittiest movie ever made in digital format, hell most of the shittiest ones DO get DVD releases.
Disney should not be embarrassed by their failures, learn from them yes, but not lock them away for fear of ridicule from later generations.

It's last theatrical release was in 1986:
nd in 1986 for the film's own 40th anniversary and in promotion of the upcoming Splash Mountain attraction at three of Disney's theme parks.
eta: It should also be noted that the actor who played Uncle Remus was the very first black actor disney ever hired, but it looks like it was his final film.Last edited by violiav; 05-18-2013, 11:33 PM.

The Black Cauldron is out and available, and likely won't get vaulted again, since it's not a title that they can really cash in on by artificially limiting its availability.Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden

I recently saw the VHS of Black Cauldron, and it seemed to be from right before the move to DVD. If so, a couple years ago seems about right for it to come around again."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

I think we have to remember that it is a product of its time, and that it has some great stories in there irrespective of the other problems with the film.

It's not one of their...finest works. And not for race reasons like Song of the South, simply because they absolutely butchered the story. They had a heroic spoof story and didn't know what to do with it.
Queen Achren isn't mentioned. Neither is Gwydion. The real story of the destruction of the Cauldron, which was one of self sacrifice, is completely obliterated. Of course, the Horned King (Arawn) isn't defeated until the end of the 5th book, the High King.
Sorry for rambling . . . this is one of my favorite series and I really hated how the story got butchered. I'd love to see a live action version done right, but that's not too likely.Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
