  • A step in the right direction and Good PR

    http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2...id=msnhp&pos=3

A 4 year old Syrian child with a sever heart condition is given a new lease on life in Israel. Her treatment was the work of “Save a Child's Heart,” an Israeli nonprofit organization started by the late Ami Cohen by getting life saving surgery.

This is the most telling quote from the article
"A lot of patients arrive here from enemy countries and view Israelis as demons. They are surprised that we are human without horns on our heads," he added. "This is the first time they see Israelis without a uniform and I think it's a good surprise.”
Now why can not this be the shining light in all of the crap going on in that region??
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

Honestly? Power. Power over your fellow man.

Humans are tribal creatures - it's wired into our DNA. And the most effective way to maintain power over your tribe is to convince them that all their ills are the result of those demons over in the next tribe. While the little people are blaming them for all their ills, they're not looking at those in charge and asking where's the beef (metaphorically).

It's not just racial either. Look at how much air-time the whole gay-marriage thing gets - a lot of the rhetoric is about fear of what will happen if they get equality. While passions are high over that, no one is paying attention to the catastrophic bungling of the budget.

Must be from those old paintings of Moses.

Not really. I know a couple of people from Israel. One has lived there for a year or two getting in touch with her Jewish roots. The other was born there and has lived there all his life.

They both report the same. The non-Israelis in the region are taught that the Jews/Israelis are literally demons, and they are often stunned not to see horns, forked tails, and fangs on the people.

Wow Talk about dehumanizing someone to the nth degree
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

Perhaps Coca Cola could bring paired machines to Israel and other nations in the region as they did for India and Pakistan.
