I hope the judge did impose as much as he could- On thye other ahnd, I'm a proponent of the punishment for knowingly falsely reporting a crime being identical to the sentance for the crime. (I've bolded knowlingly, because I mean situation like this, where the person is acting maliciously. if the accuser has a good-faith belief there was a crime, then there should be no punishment.)

This woman (also in the UK) was jailed for 16 months for falsely accusing a man of rape.
Of course, she had accused men of raping her *ten* times before. So what it says is that you can ruin the lives of ten men, but the eleventh one is the one that you go to jail for.
The next time someone complains of the gender pay gap, I'm pointing out the gender sentencing gap.

The pay gap is inexcusable and so is the sentencing gap. You know that if a man were to falsely accuse a woman of sexual harrasment that they will get the book thrown at them for filing a false report and the woman will have barely a pencil mark in her record... a woman falsely accuses a man of rape and she gets a slap on the wrist whilst the man's life is ruined, like he might as well kill himself and hope for reincarnation."I'm Gar and I'm proud" -slytovhand

My thoughts about the fate I wish for this woman would almost certainly get me banned, so all I will say is she is beneath contempt and I hope her boyfriend dumps her on their next anniversary, with no warning whatsoever.
And yes, she does deserve much more punishment than she got for the demolition job she did on those guys' lives. I don't give a damn what her excuses were or the sob story she's no doubt got drawn up about what a hard life she's had.

Proof of rape is hard enough; proof of *lack* of rape, much less proof that the purported victim knows there was no rape, is going to be impossible in most cases.
If it can be proven, though, the accused should sue her off the map."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

Given that it is hard to live down being accused of rape, no matter if true or not, she might have destroyed two lives, and as Akasa said, making it harder for other women that have actually been raped.

Indeed. False rape accusations should carry the same sentence as actual, honest-to-God rape. No exceptions.
I think that, if there's a false rape accusation (or, indeed, a false anything-accusation) then the person who made it should be able to be charged with kidnapping. If you hire a guy to kidnap someone, you're considered guilty of it. That shouldn't change if the person you get to do your dirty work are cops."Nam castum esse decet pium poetam
