The only reason why they objected was because they had too much of Gordon Ramsay on-screen at the time

I would have thought it was because they couldn't make him look like a raging asshole.

Pretty much. They can't let benevolent, passionate Gordon be seen in the US. Only psychotic asshole magic edit Gordon. ;p

Didn't he hire one of the inmates? I recall he was impressed with one of their knife skills and flat out offered him a job as soon as he got out of prison.

Also, there was a Canadian version of that kind of show show albeit not with Ramsay.

He hired 2 of them for trials. One of them was kicked out due to a drug problem.

Wouldn't the Canadian version be Rams-eh?

More or less. It was on the F-Word and he was visiting a prison that was doing their own setup similar to it. Gordon challenged him to an onion cutting race. The prisoner smoked Gordon (Gordon was only about half done when the inmate put down his knife) and Gordon said "soon as you're out give me a call and I'll have a job for you."

I require an eyeroll emote >.>

Ramsay seems to do that a fair amount. You don't see it in the US version of anything that often, but during the UK shows I've seen him hire a few people or help them find jobs after the shitty restaurant they were at went under.

Oh he's stolen quite a few people away after their places have went out of business. One I really loved was from the vegan restaurant.

Yeah, that was the main one I was thinking. Vegan restaurant in Paris. Owner was a self absorbed bitch. Made that poor chef move to a completely different country for the job then closed the restaurant like 2 days after she got there because she just didn't feel like running it anymore. Gah.

Apparently, the owner is now working as a prostitute. I wonder if she bothered to pay her father back.

India Innes is now working at Cafe Fish in Edinburgh.

I don't watch the show at all, but I was curious.

                      • That restores some of my faith that all is right in the world. >.>

I still feel bad for her dad though, the guy seemed like a genuinely down to Earth kinda guy, and it was his money she burned through to open the restaurant and keep it afloat. Not her own.

I had not known these updates. Heee I kinda wish I had found out this info sooner just so I could laugh at it more.

If anyone else watches or looks up the episode there is quite a few hilarious moments where the chef looks out of the water. Mainly during one where he's chef, host, server, and bus boy all in the space of two hours and all at the same time.

Geeze just read the article again...I love how she's blaming Chef for failing when she herself didn't even want to work.
