    THis....

Some people are smart, some are dumb. Some are fat, some are thin. What's my excuse? I'm not her.....

For everything we excel at, there are multiple things that we do poorly. I see that as an inspirational picture (getting past the she's hot drooling), not "I'm better than you" bragging.

Too many people have esteem problems and attach them to others. Instead of raising the bar, too many people want it lowered to their level.

So you admit that people have esteem issues and then in the very same breath you insult them for it.

      What a winning strategy.

i disagree with this. most people are not offended by inspirational stories of self-triumph. they get passed around and congradulated for the most part. there may be a few people that claim what you say, but they're a minority. however the majority will get offended by blatantly antagonist lines like the woman chose to use.
she chose the antagonistic phrase, now she's getting flack for it. no suprises. if she chose a non-antagonistic approach i'd be on the "what's the big deal?" side of things like any other sensible person.
All uses of You, You're, and etc are generic unless specified otherwise.

I'm sorry, but I doubt your claims of minority vs. majority. In almost any kind of situation, the majority will be silent. Even if they see this picture, read the caption and it annoys them, most people will just click it away and go about their day. Only a very small minority will post a comment in any case.

What does that mean? It means that it doesn't matter whether she'd chosen the self-congratulating or the antagonising capton, there would still have been people who'd have found it offensive. Maybe it wouldn't have gone viral the way it has, but that also wouldn't have happened if some jerk hadn't found it and, in his determination to be offended, shared it with other sites outside the "workout theme", thus basically citing her caption out of context.

She's just some woman neither of us has ever met, nor in all likelihood will ever meet. Why should her opinion matter?

So, to sum up: I'll keep my overweight self over here, smack in the middle of "meh, what's the big deal?" territory. Possible while oogling her picture

It's interesting how people find the truth to be insulting, when it disagrees with what they believe.

The ones who find fault with her message, do not like it because they cannot (in their minds) achieve that goal. Instead everyone should be equal.

That maybe fair, but real life is not fair and expecting it too, causes even more problems. There should be no racism, sexism, bodism, or any other ism you can think of. But we all know life doesn't work like that.

Life is about either doing something about it or accepting it.

When it's framed as a negative statement, that doesn't make it any less true. And that it's true doesn't make the person saying it any less offensive.

People are only finding fault with her message because her message is "I've had kids and look great, so everybody should totally be able to do the same thing despite the fact that it's obvious that I have a high metabolism, a husband that supports me, and the energy and drive and time to follow the regimen required to get to this level of fitness because everybody is just like me."

You can accept your situation at the same time as you disapprove of the way a statement is presented.

Her message is framed to put down everybody who isn't like her when it should be framed to raise herself, instead.
