  • Are we really becoming this PC these days???

Hallmark released a new holiday ornament: An ugly sweater with the phrase "Don we now our FUN apparel" ''

NOTE the change from "Don we now our GAY apparel" as Hallmark deemed the word GAY as too controversial.

I see this as the exact opposite of being PC. If anything they are showing how anti-gay they are.

On one hand its pretty silly, on the other hand I'm kind of surprised it took this long for someone to take a swing at the phrase.

I figured the joke was that gay guys wouldn't be caught dead in an ugly sweater.

Have they gotten round to editing the Flintstones theme yet?

Actually, I seem to remember some later TV specials where they changed it to "We'll have a GREAT old time!"

              I second this.

Or because people tend to associate the term "gay" with "homosexual" instead of "happy". If anything, I blame moral guardians.

When I read the title, my first reaction was to ask whose PC standards. I've seen it applied in different ways during the years, and in different ways at the same time. One group protected, another not regarded as worthy of such at the same time.

I gave up on deciding about such stuff ages back.

If they ever take the word "queer" out of Jack Skellington's "What's This?" song, I'll have to hit something with my sledgehammer…

Oh, we've become way more PC than that.

By the way, you're not supposed to say "politically correct" anymore.

                      Now we are "socially aware".

                      Yes, that's an actual thing.

And of course, there's a trope for this. XD Be warned, TVTropes will suck you in if you're not careful. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...aveAGayOldTime I've noticed a few edits in modern versions of old books where they remove such words as "gay" to mean happy and "queer" to mean strange, and substitute them.

Oh yeah, and here's another example of removing something so it doesn't offend homosexuals; the "Ash contraversy" from Streets Of Rage 3. Basically, the developers thought that the boss Ash from Bare Knuckle 3 was far too offensive, so removed him from the American game.

Well, Elfman sang it as is at the show on Tuesday, so I don't think it's going away in the immediate future.

Hey, anything that ruins the song "Deck the Halls" is fine by me.

Honestly, in some cases I think that people take it all way to far. Like that Fort Gay kid who got banned from Xbox Live for using Offensive Terminology when he entered his address.
