You're right, that was a flip answer. I will admit while I believe that she's running a scam, it doesn't mean that she *is* running a scam. You should be willing to admit that the couple may be telling the truth.
Your typical waitress in the US (she lives in New Jersey) makes $2.13/hr+tips. She may have seen what happened with the waiter in Kansas. Many people believe they are smarter than they really are.
When I worked as a cashier in a restaurant, my manager counted my till quickly. All she was really worried about was that the money in my till matched my numbers. It's quite possible that the manager she showed the receipt to and the manager that counted her take were not the same person.
The real truth is that we really don't know what the real story is, and we never know the real story.Corey Taylor is correct. Man is a "four letter word."

Also, why would such a person bring up something so easily determined to be false to their manager?
and if she reprinted the receipt, wrote on it to show her manager, it's not entirely unthinkable that she figured she wouldn't get caught passing the actual receipt with her daily close(or entering the tip, and then making the false copy), Depends on the restaurant's policy of who enters the totals for the servers at shift end. Also the restaurant can't produce the original(with the statement), which they are required to keep for a specific timeframe in the event of disputes. Possibly the manager is in on it as well?Last edited by BlaqueKatt; 11-27-2013, 12:03 AM.

I honestly think that someone else that she works with did this. Perhaps the same person who told the family that their server would be named "Dan."Faith is about what you do. Meh, was waiting for this to happen. It seems like these stories always end up being fake.Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers

Here's more on the matter. Apparently her friends are saying she's a habitual liar ... up to and including lying about serving in a combat zone.

It's not -exactly- like claiming to be a combat vet who served with honor and distinction in the United States Armed Forces...
...wait a second...oh, well, yes, yes it is, I suppose.
Credit card fraud, faking a transaction, making a big stink about how nobody treats you fairly when you lie about who did what to you because you happen to be a member of (insert minority here)?
Yeah, I'm thinking this woman isn't going to be finding a job in the service sector anytime soon. Because even if she's in the right (which seems about as likely as a member of Focus on the Family funding a Gay Pride parade float in SF next year) I somehow doubt anyone will take a risk on her working with money, or anything approaching "responsibility".
I feel really sorry for her, actually, but at the same time I'm kind of glad the fake got exposed for what it is. Too many gay and lesbians I know get screwed over at work for being who they are to tolerate someone who fakes it for their own personal agenda. The Damn Dirty Monkey Rule:

You can only build it to the very best you can.
People will ALWAYS be damn dirty little monkeys once they start playing with it.

This comment from the Marines says ALOT while saying nothing to incriminate themselves.
A spokesman for the Marines, Major Shawn Haney, said in an email that Morales… was assigned to the Marine Air Group 49, 4th Marine Air Wing out of Newburgh and deployed from April to June 2012 to Romania as part of the Black Sea Rotational Force 11.
“There is no indication of combat service in Iraq or Afghanistan,” he added in a follow-up email. Also, “While (Morales) did not fulfill her reserve obligation, per the Privacy Act, administrative actions are not releasable. The same applies to character of service and type of discharge.”Last edited by Titi; 11-28-2013, 06:57 AM.

That story seems to vindicate me for saying that I thought she was running a scam. If she's willing to falsely accuse her father of a horrific crime, lying about having terminal cancer and serving in a combat zone, then she's willing to lie about homophobia to achieve her aims.Corey Taylor is correct. After the first story about a waiter not receiving a tip because he was gay made me wonder if there would be a copy cat waiter/waitress doing this to get fame and attention. I guess I was right, unfortunately.
I think there is more to this story but we may never find out what it is."Human history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe" -H. G. Wells

This might be a new message for stiffing a waiter. A waiter in Tennessee heard these three customers talk about the football game between the University of Alabama and Auburn University. Auburn won that game 34-28.
They wrote that he was getting nothing because he was an Auburn fan. When a reporter caught up with the waiter, he said that those customers called the restaurant claiming that the waiter tried to write in a $4 tip. The restaurant looked over the receipts and found the claim false.
Just because your team lost, you shouldn't act like a jackass.
