I don't condone what he did, but from his perspective, I can't say I blame him. The way is more angry rather than upset leads me to believe they were having issues prior, and this was the last straw. She;s not sorry for what she did, only that she got busted, and for that, I don't have sympathy.

His reaction wasn't the most brilliant of ideas, but I'm of the mind that we SHOULD bring back some forms of public humiliation, since it's not just a slap on the wrist for the consequences of your actions. The only thing that infantile and judgemental people would taunt him over is something along the lines of "you unmanly jerk couldn't satisfy her in bed to the point she had to resort to this." Others might also make the claim that he chose a slut for a wife and had what was coming to him.
