Police Chief Crystal Moore was fired by the Mayor Earl Bullard. He gave her 7 reprimands since he took office 4 months prior. Those are the first reprimands she received in 20 years. The Latta council voted 6-1 to strip Bullard's power. The townspeople have demonstrated in support of Crystal Moore.

I love how the comments in there are going "Did you guys ignore the fact that she received so many reprimands?" and are quickly shut down by the two facts that work against their theory:

1) Those reprimands were given within a very short timespan.
2) The mayor in question was recorded making a rant about homosexuals and suggesting that because she drank and "lived a gay lifestyle" she was incapable of having children or similar.

Yeah. See, "Guy says homophobic shit" and "Fires Lesbian police chief" need not be connected. She could just be a shitty police chief. But that she had the job for a long time, with no reprimands, then got a bunch that rapidly, there's really only a few options. She had a breakdown. The other people she worked under were stunningly incompetent. Or this guy's a dick. Considering the ranting, that pushes me into thinking "The guy's a douche"

Police Chief Gets Job Back, Mayor Objects

Crystal Moore has been reinstated by the council of Latta, SC. The council rejected Mayor Earl Bullard's last minute replacement for police chief on grounds that he did that without the council's consent. The mayor's power has said "Goodbye Earl."

Of course, if he does end up like the titular character from the Dixie Chicks' hit, "Goodbye Earl," guess who'll have to investigate his disappearance.

Given that he says he's okay with lesbians, as long as children don't have to see them showing affection to each other in any way, maybe he should relocate to Russia. He'd love the new laws there. And with the huge problem with alcoholism there, he'll always find someone to take care of his children.

Regarding the reprimands - Yeah, it's likely that they're just an excuse to get her fired (some of them read like "Dared to say no to me"), but of course she *could* be a bad cop that so far lived under very lax mayors, that didn't care what she did. Basically, just investigate them to see if any or all of them were warranted.

I imagine there would be no shortage of people willing to send him there too. In a nice, small wooden crate marked garbage. Air holes not required.

The allegations are:
1. Running background checks without properly signed authorization
2. Failure to report to supervisor about problems in other departments
3. Using office/position to seek revenge against another for personal affront
4. Questioning authority of supervisor
5. Questioning authority of mayor to look at job applications for potential employees
6. Failure to maintain order, contributing to disorder at council meetings
7. Contacting news media to help bring about disorder and disruption to the town of Latta

And my personal interpretations, YMMV ^_^ :


1 - Can't really say
2/4 - Supervisor? She's the [EFF]ing Chief of Police! Does he mean himself? He lists "Mayor" as distinct from this on #5
3/4 - Probably her reacting badly to his dislike of her
5 - Well, the Council already said that he cannot hire Chiefs on his own (he did anyway)...
6 - She probably brought something up during a meeting. Besides, I've been to (another city's) council meetings. They're boring as fuck if nobody makes a little noise
7 - She probably went to the media to expose him as a dick
