It's a stupid law, but I'm not too worried. Supposedly Kennesaw has a law requiring people to carry guns, but when I've been there, I didn't see any. As for bars... we still have places that don't allow those, so people who decide to use their guns because they're drunk will be doing it at home like they already did anyway

oh for crying out loud... the bill even prevents officers from checking you even have a license to carry said gun. ( it's now illegal to stop someone for the sole purpose of checking they have a gun carry license)

It's basically an extreme 2nd amendment proponent's wet dream- it basically removes ALL restrictions on carrying guns. ( hell, it even specifically mentions allowing felons to claim Stand Your ground if they use guns in self-defense. felons are specifically stripped of their 2nd amendment rights.

Considering at the time swords and bayonets were around and automatic weapons weren't I'd say the second amendment should include swords and knives.

It's funny the people who protest the most about their guns being taken away are usually the ones who shouldn't have any in my opinion.

I think the 2nd amendment posts should go under religion personally

I just checked, and going by the actual wording of the law. It would not give or restrict edged weapon rights. I will need to see if there is a words act on the state level to be 100% sure.

Our laws here in NC aren't as crazy, but they're close. CCP's can carry most places here now, including bars unless posted. And we have enough gun nuts who own bars that it is only a matter of time before something bad happens.

Considering it says "keep and bear arms", not "keep and bear firearms", I agree. Fun fact: it also doesn't say "keep and bear small arms". At the time the Constitution was written, Privateering was still fairly common (nation authorizes citizens to send out privately-owned warships to prey on the commerce of an opposing nation - weakens the economy of the opposing nation, and the pay is whatever the privateers can loot from the enemy's ships). Also, at least as late as the Civil War, privately-owned crew-served weapons existed. The Gatling guns on the Northern side weren't owned by the army or operated by soldiers - Mr. Gatling hired civilian crews to carry out live demos on the battlefield as a sales pitch.

Unfortunately guns attract idiots. I live in the south, I'm surprised most of these people are alive they claim to love guns but don't know how to properly clean, store or handle them. IF everyone were sane, rational and intelligent, gun laws wouldn't be needed but their not so there for we have gun laws. The Maryland Ren Faire used to have a rule disallowing any kind of weapon by patrons. You couldn't even have a non-sharpened blade. There'd been an incident previously, when they used to allow it, of a bunch of drunks who decided to try to kidnap the Queen (their actors cycle through the Tudor dynasty starting with Henry VIII and ending with Elizabeth I who was queen that year). Her escort defended her and beat the crap out of the drunks for their temerity.

After that, no weapons allowed by patrons.
