  • Creepy creepy creepy...

    http://www.news.com.au/world/north-a...-1227102702800

So this guy wanted the names and addresses of all the strippers from a local strip club. He actually went to the court to get this by the way. The strippers pointed out that those details would result in getting harassed. The judge agreed with this and told this guy to fuck off.

Cue the guy claiming that he wanted their addresses and names to "pray for them." Translation: I want to evangelise to you immoral whores.

    Yeesh, what a nutjob.

And then, God said, "Before you pray for your brothers and sisters, make sure you provide to me their legal names and a valid street address in your prayers for proper answering."

The Lord answers the prayers of those who includ a self addressed stamped envelope and a photocopy of at least 2 pieces of valid ID? Its pretty ballsy to claim you're hanging out in a strip club and need the names and home addresses of 70 strippers because Jesus.

Also why am I not surprised its a creepy old bearded white dude with no teeth in a cowboy hat with a camera around his neck?

the irony of the whole situation is that the website chose not to publish the email the nutjob sent because.......wait for it......

              IT CONTAINED HIS PERSONAL DETAILS.

Complete coincidence that this shows today on a blog I follow. http://feminist-space.tumblr.com/pos...trophe-this-is

There is some serious cleavage in this picture so for some it may be nsfw.

                  "Disciples of the New Dawn?"

That… that just screams mass suicide cult to me.

Also, I'm going to assume that the dancer's top ties beneath her bust, or else she's found an awkward place to store her handkerchief.

While this guy is obviously very creepy - he isn't the first person to request this information and the other person was in jail at the time for assault, but has a history of stalking. So, while I am disgusted by both of these men, I am furious that the government has set-up a system that allows women to be stalked because of the nature of their job. Something is seriously wrong with that and needs to be addressed.

I would go with the "ties" part. I keep getting their ads on Facebook now >.<
What's worse is that nearly every single "ad" I do get from them is relating to this. One-track mind much?

I'm just glad that the judge told him to shut up.

The Judge was right. There is no reason anyone needs that information.

You do not need to know where someone lives to pray for them. If you really feel you need to protest, you can do the same thing we do for abortion clinics. Outside, on public land. Never at someones home.

Why? The judge refused to order the strip club to turn over that information.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

The judge issued a temporary injunction against releasing the records to Van Vleet; a hearing for a permanent injunction is not until next month, but will only apply to him (and that is assuming that it is actually granted). Which means that someone else can go and request them and once again the only way to stop them will be for the dancers to sue (which unless their attorney is working Pro Bono, that is going to get very expensive).

The other, similar case I referenced, Robert Hill, who at the time (this was in 2013) was in prison, has a prior record before that for stalking and assault - he was able to get some of the information requested.
                              http://www.kval.com/news/local/Strip...?tab=video&c=y
"Hill has already seen around 100 of the files, but he wants more."

So, yes, I strongly feel this law needs to be fixed.

I'm not an attorney, I don't live in WA - but does anyone know, if someone makes a public records request for your information, how do you know they did? Is the state required to inform the person?

ETA: Never mind - I just did some googling - seems as if the only reason the dancers knew about this is that the County Auditor, who stated that without a court order she would release the information, chose to inform the dancers of the request first. Which means that in other counties the request could be granted without the dancer's knowledge. Yeah, I see a problem here.
