ok are you able to request anyone's information this way?

I think it might be for things like the ability to serve legal papers if so.

No, the problem is the dancers themselves are required to have a business license and thus the business license becomes a matter of public record thus leading to this creepy stupidity. The licenses cost $142.50 in application fees and require fingerprinting and background checks.

And no, no other type of employee in any other industry in Pierce Country is required to apply for a business license complete with background checks and finger printing to work there. In Pierce County, strippers and firearm dealers have the same licensing standards ( though the application fees are actually a bit cheaper for a firearms dealer ).

You know, because seeing a nipple will lead to the complete destruction of the moral fabric of America.

GK, with all due respect, you're mistaken. There is a type of employee under the same restrictions as the dancers and for much the same reason: Independent contractors. See, the dancers aren't employees of the club, they're contracted by the club (and various others around the world) to perform there. Such contracts are either done through a talent agency or directly which requires (for liability protection) that the dancer be registered as a business. The background checks are standard operating procedure for any contracting firm (I have to have mine updated annually) and the fingerprinting is handled at the time of licensing for future investigative reference.

It's not some moral stonewall as you're trying to claim it is. It's standard liability and investigative protections that ANY independent contractor goes through. And no, dancers and firearm dealers don't have the same licensing standards, they have SIMILAR licensing PROCEDURES but for very different reasons. (firearm dealers are merchandising in a controlled product while dancers travel frequently and can be regarded as a flight risk in the event of a crime)

I'd say it's an ethical stonewall at least. Since the clubs do this so they don't have to pay benefits...

With all due respect, no, I am not. That's not the issue. The issue is that Pierce County only requires a county specific business license from Adult Entertainers ( Both dancers and managers ), second hand dealers, pawnbrokers, firearm dealers, peep shows, arcades ( the premise requires a license and each individual device requires a separate license ), peddlers/solicitors and process servers.

All other businesses only require a regular state license. And out of all of those, only exotic dancers and their managers are required to submit to both a background check and fingerprinting in Pierce County. These licenses are in addition to any regular state licenses they may already possess.

And Khelderson is correct that these clubs will often classify their employees as independent contractors in order to avoid having to pay benefits or taxes on them. But that is a different problem.

And yes, there is a OH GOD THINK OF THE CHILDREN component. The small novel worth of regulations any given State slaps on strip clubs and their employees should show that. -.-
