Worst part, by command of our Lord God and Savior, we must help to feed the hungry. So all they are doing is imprisoning people for following their religious beliefs.

Yes, and the irony is the people on this city council are exactly the sort to quote the Bible when it comes to issues like gay marriage and abortion, law enforcement and the death penalty.

I know in some Islamic cultures, it is a sin to let a person go hungry.

All this law does is make it harder to help the homeless and persecute people of faith (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and a few more).

Well, in Islamic countries they have plenty of people who go hungry, so they really aren't any better at dealing with the issue of poverty than we are. Regardless of religious foundation, a lot of people use their religion as a club to enforce their own point of view but don't actually live the message themselves.

It's counter productive as well. Taking away a source of food just feeds panhandling and crime.
