    That's reading an awful lot into this.

    Also, it's possible that she normally did stand, but since she wasn't feeling well, she was in the nurse's office, after all, she chose to sit quietly, instead.

    Even if she just didn't stand because she didn't choose to, that's not necessarily disrespect. Perhaps she thinks it's lying to act like she's saying it when she isn't.

    And I'm totally Godwinning this thread, because the whole idea of ritualistic state-sponsored allegiance is something that better belongs in the history books about Nazi Germany than in practice in what is supposed to be the Land of the Free.
