Rioters Ruin Another Protest

It's at the point now where the Baltimore Orioles had a game moved to the afternoon, and are playing in an empty stadium because of the riots. And then, instead of hosting the Tampa Bay Rays, they have to fly to Florida and play there (though, the O's will still be considered the home team).

...that could get the judge into trouble, actually ( two reasons: 1. bail is meant to be an amount that will discourage people from fleeing, not a tool to punish in and of itself, and expecting ordinary people to pay 100k in cash is a punishment 2. bail isn't supposed to be ridiculously high. You can refuse bail entirely, but not make it ridiculous)

So, I saw today it was announced that Gray attempted to self-harm while in the van. Both the police and another prisoner are claiming this.
It certainly wouldn't be the first time a prisoner self-harmed to try to get out of serving jail time. But it also wouldn't surprise me if the cops made it up and the other prisoner agreed to say it just to cut a deal with them.Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers

This prisoner was the 4th person the van picked up, was only in the van for 5 minutes and according to the timeline, Gray was already injured and unresponsive by the time this prisoner was put in the van.
The second source is an unidentified relative of a police officer who is trying to shift the blame onto the arresting officers.
Both sources are bullshit obviously. There's a bunch of this shit going around. The "self harm" narrative popped up out of nowhere with obvious intentions alongside the "report" that Gray had a pre-existing spine and neck condition ( which, even if it were true, would have no bearing at all on severing his farking spine ).
According to the official report the fatal blow was sustained inside the van when Gray's head hit the side of the interior. They literally matched the imprint in his skull to the bolts on the interior of the van wall. The report was completed and handed over to the prosecutor without the assistance of the driver. The driver has not given a statement ( as that would be self incriminating I would assume. ). So look for the driver to lawyer up.
Gray had no other injuries aside from the severed spine. He got taken out in one sudden high impact blow. I would assume from a speed up / sudden break by the van ( and of which there is one stop recorded on the van gps that was not reported by the officers in their reports ).
Even if it WAS true that he was trying to injure himself in the van, its a moot point because the officers failed to secure him per dept policy. So it would still be the officer's responsibility.

In a shocking turn of events, six police officers involved with the inciting incident are being charged with a variety of offences, and the van driver is getting a second-degree murder charge.

The hideous white hypocrisy behind the Baltimore “Hero Mom” hype: How clueless media applause excuses police brutality
But anyone white who’s applauding Graham’s moment of desperation, along with the white media figures who are hyping her “heroism,” is essentially justifying police brutality, and saying the only way to control black kids is to beat the shit out of them.

I'm white. I legitimately fear what my mom would do to me had I participated in a riot on national television. And I say that in the present tense despite being in my 30s. Never mind when I was a teenager. >.>
Also, wow on the cops not only getting charged but getting charged swiftly before the media and idiot sphere can spend a month inventing a narrative to sway public opinion.
Mosby said an investigation found officers placed Gray in wrist and ankle restraints and left him stomach-down on the floor of a police van as they drove around West Baltimore. Despite his repeated requests for medical attention, they did not provide it and continued to drive without securing him in the van, she said.
Officers on at least five occasions placed Gray in the van or checked on him and failed to secure him, she said. By the time they reached the Western District police station, he was not breathing and was in cardiac arrest, she said.
