  • Crazy situation but not why you would think

    Yes this is Kansas.

TL;DR woman with Crohns finds that pot helps her condition to the point that she can actually hold a job and do activities with her 11 YO son. At school the Son speaks out for medical pot. Police and CPS get involved and Son is taken away and Mom gets charged with possession WITH INTENT to distribute (which seems to be a trumped up charge).

OK I get this as pot is not legal in Kanas and the US Federal laws.

Here is why I am posting this

    (From the article)

Hold on, says Eric Voth, a Topeka physician and longtime marijuana opponent.

"Until all the reports are in, I would urge people to take pause," Voth said. "I can't presume to know what happened in this case. I know a lot of people are trying to voice compassion, but when police and child agencies take a kid out of a home, they do so with serious consideration."

Voth says marijuana has serious toxic and long-term effects, and causes domestic and spousal violence.
This so-called Dr. is making statements based upon what???? HE fully admits he does NOT know the specifics of the situation AND then goes on to "claim" that post causes domestic violence.

AND YES I know this is Kansas
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

Possession with intent to distribute means she had more than enough for just personal use. If I understand correctly, that's over 500g in Kansas.

        The article in question.

Not sure what I like more. That this is so ridiculous Glenn Beck is defending her or that the police tried to argue with her that her back yard is public property so they have the right to be there.

From what I can dig up, she had 2 ounces of pot and 2 ounces of cannabis oil. However, she has not been arrested or charged with anything yet. They've only taken her son away from her so far and placed him in "protective custody".

This Voth guy is a grade A asshole though.

Voth is full of shit. The peer reviewed literature disagrees with him. He's a fanatic.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.

This is the second instance of something like this happening. Someone's life is improved by medical marijuana, some nosy busy body alerts authorities and gets the state involved, cue knee jerk reaction by state who only sees some pothead trying to get high (which still isn't enough reason for all this knee jerk bullshit). Hopefully, by next decade, those militant anti marijuana people will be a minority.

Also love this Voth guy assuming police never overreact.

Unless she had some plants, there's no way it could be intent to distribute.

Yeah. She lives an hour from the Colorado state border so she doesn't need plants. Its all just being bandied out to support the "risk to the child" bullshit from CPS. If they could charge with any of that they would have already. They haven't arrested her or charged her with anything yet. They just stole her child because...well, who the fark knows, its Kansas. Trampling women's rights is what gives Brownback a chubby.
